Jokerchoker Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 So I am new to Modding my game so far Ive only downloaded mods and some CC like a stripper pole with animations. Where would I put the Stripperpole.package vs the stripperpoleanims.package? Do they go into downloads file for the POLE product itself or both go into MODS folder? So far i've been doing everything manually.

Im blind idiot and I think this is sims 4 section. so Im not shure if is it same as in Ts4. Maybe anyone from Ts3 confirm it. Hi . You can put all .package files into Mods folder together. But better way is made in The Sims 4/Mods /another folders but no more subfolders . Something like : Mods/Animations folder and put inside just animations / Furniture folder and put ............. /Clothes folder and etc. Its good for later searching and keep it organized.

Ha I tripple checked its sims 3 tech support thank you but im not sure if that answered my question, Mods are mods but for sims3pack. file goes into the CC folder correct? For custom content, is SIMS3PACK. file the only file for custom content to show in the buy/build or is package. can also be used in the buy build section?

There are two types of files in TS3, those in *.package format go into your mods/packages folder and those in *.sims3pack format go into your ......Sims 3/downloads folder, you have to install them via the launcher.
Nonsequitur Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 Make sure you have a Mods folder (Documents\EA\The Sims 3\Mods). In that empty folder you have a CFG file and several other folders (Resource.cfg, and folders: Overrides, Packages, Probation, Test) Use Notepad and paste the following - then save to Desktop with the file extension cfg (Resource.cfg) ------------------------------------ Priority 501 DirectoryFiles Files/... autoupdate Priority 600 PackedFile Overrides/*.package PackedFile Overrides/*/*.package PackedFile Overrides/*/*/*.package PackedFile Overrides/*/*/*/*.package PackedFile Overrides/*/*/*/*/*.package Priority 500 PackedFile Packages/*.package PackedFile Packages/*/*.package PackedFile Packages/*/*/*.package PackedFile Packages/*/*/*/*.package PackedFile Packages/*/*/*/*/*.package Priority 499 PackedFile Test/*.package PackedFile Test/*/*.package PackedFile Test/*/*/*.package PackedFile Test/*/*/*/*.package PackedFile Test/*/*/*/*/*.package Priority -50 PackedFile Probation/*.package PackedFile Probation/*/*.package PackedFile Probation/*/*/*.package PackedFile Probation/*/*/*/*.package PackedFile Probation/*/*/*/*/*.package Priority 500 PackedFile DCCache/*.dbc ------------------------------ Usually you put ALL PAckage files into the "Packages" folder and that's all - done. You only put package files into the Override folder if the Mod information tells you to. The other folders are for what ever you want to put in them - notice that in the Resource.cfg file there are " Priority" entries like "Priority 600" for the Overrides folder. The folders in the Mods folder have different priorities from each other. The higher the priority - the more attention is given to handling the object. TIP: If you notice the Resource.cfg file - if allows for multiple levels of folders - very handy! If you have a group - say clothing outfits, Top, bottoms, etc. you can organize them into folders with a unique name like "Sex Shop Items". Then just place the entire folder with all its content into your Mods\Packages\ ... This way makes it easy to install and remove individual or groups of objects and outfits to suite the world you're playings style. That's it! Make a Mods folder, make a Resource.cfg file and save it into the Mods folder - place your Package folders into the Mods\Packages folder - start your game and play!
Nonsequitur Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 Only Package files go into the Mods\Packages folder. Only Sim3pack files go into your Downloads folder. You must not (should not) have BOTH Sim3pack AND PAckage file of the same object installed - causes problems. Because Package files are so much more easy to install and uninstall - most people like to convert their Sims3pack files to Package files. This can be done with a utility found on MTS called "Sims3Pack File Generate Tool v1.4.1.36". Start the tool, Button on bottom left says unpack - click it, choose your sims3pack (copy the name of the file too - you'll need it), select the folder you want it to go into (Desktop) and click - done. The file will be saved with it's HASH as its name - rename the file to the original files name (why you copy the original files name...)
Nonsequitur Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 Just an FYI: What is a Sims3pack? It is a "container" or folder (of sorts) that contains package files and other information. In most cases the package file within the Sims3pack will work by itself. When you install an item for use in your game as a Sims3pack and use the Launcher to install that item - the system does a lot breaking the sims3pack down and copying parts of it to various other files and folders before it's done - takes a lot of time for each and every item you install of uninstall - a LOT of time... Whether a control script, tweak, object, or most anything, even other peoples creations (CUSTOM CONTENT) it is nothing more than a Package file. Sims3packs are handy when you want to include INI files, color ramps, audio and animations - most do not require all this "packaging". It's mostly a convention. So, any CC you may have as a Sims3pack - should be converted to Package files. If you convert a sims3pack to package - some sims3pack contain many files. put the sims3pack you want to convert into a seperate folder - by itself. THEN unpack it. Finding the exact content or item you want can pose a chore though. Again, most all items like clothing, furniture, etc. will unpack with only a single Package file - that's the one you want to put into your Packages folder. The REALLY NICE thing about using a Mods folder system is how easy anything is to install or uninstall! Group your CC packages into folders with unique names that let you know what it is - EG; place all your cars and motorcycles into a folder named "Vehicles" and place in the Packages folder - it's installed fairly quickly each time you start your game. You may notice a little longer delay at startup. To uninstall - just remove that folder - done. Have a folder of only antique vehicles - and swap out one vehicle folder with another... sexy clothes with prudish clothes folder, etc. The only other thing I should warn you about is CRASHES. As you add more CC Packages your CC may look different on the outside but when the creator made it they didn't renumber it uniquely internally - OPS... now your items that all have the same name (internally) so the system gets really confused! There are tools available to find and fix these conflicts and many more types of conflict that using Package files. Search MTS for tools but be carefull !!! Make backups of all your sims3 folder before proceeding - at your own risk - dude! Keep your DCCache and Mods folder under 2 GB total and baring package conflicts - you should have no problems on older machines. Adjust your "Page" file system up to about 10GB - it'll help. Any questions or ... just ask.

The other one is the animations package - it tells the Sim how to move and interact with the object You need both. Make a new folder and name it Stripperpole. Put all stripperpole package files into that folder. place that folder into your Mods\Packages\whatever... folder. The Resource.cfg file allows for 5 folder levels deep without being modified from what I posted above. REMEMBER: You cannot have BOTH the Sims3pack AND Package file installed at the same time. Either install it as one or the other. Only Package files go into the Mods\Packages folder. Only Sims3pack files go into the Downloads folder. Hope that helps... should be enough to get you started.
