Animation Still Plays After Removing the KF

Hey guys, I've got a weird one for you tonight.

I've been using the Sinkpoint's Martial Arts Block-Attack animation for my shield bash for several months. I tried to replace it with the Woman's Move shield bash and after installing WM from OMod, updating the archive invalidation, and even manually replacing files to be sure, the Sinkpoint's animation still plays.

What really has me stumped is that if I angle my camera around just right, I actually see the character do the Woman's Move shield bash.

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

If third person is working correctly and only first person is messed up then you simply need to replace the 1st person kf file (remember that there are two subfolders that contain kf files for animation \male and \1stperson - also make sure that you don't use a third person kf for a 1st person one).

If this doesn't help just post again so we can figure it out.

I should rephrase this all together, sorry I'm so busy and scattered this week I can barely be articulate.

Here's basically the order in which the events occurred:

I changed Sinkpoint's handtohandblockattack.kf to blockattack.kf to make it work with the shields in 3rd person. This worked without issue.

I later removed the blockattack.kf (the modified Sinkpoint's file) and installed Woman's Move Shield Bash. This is a 3rd person animation as well. I installed Woman's Move Shield Bash per it's instructions (nothing fancy, it's just an animation replacer.)

In game, in 3rd person the Sinkpoint's Animation still plays when I block a hit and the shield slam goes off, or for example when I use deadly reflex's bash button (which uses the blockattack.kf). I used the animation dummy up on TESnexus to check the blockattack.kf file in the _Male folder. It is the Woman's Move animation there, just not in game. Even stranger, if I pan my camera around to certain angles, let's say I do straight over head, I will sometimes see the Woman's Move animation.

Since the Sinkpoint's Blockattack.kf has been deleted and replaced, there must be some other place Oblivion is drawing a copy of the Sinkpoint's animation from. Could this possibly be related to something in the registry or something like that?

Ok. I may have figured out the problem. A woman's move animations and sinkpoints do not cancel one another out. If you look inside sinkpoints martial arts it is only hand to hand kf files. Thus some other mod is causing the problem. That or a load order problem.

You have two choices as I see it:

1. Use tes4edit.exe to track down what esp maybe overriding your shieldbash kf (maybe a blockattack.kf in specialanims\ folder)

2. Or try moving the woman's move animation way down in your load order (just below your bashed patch in case it is merging something together over-riding it - if you do this don't forget to redo your bashed patch or CTD!!!!). Then load up, save, exit and load up that last save and see if your animation problem is fixed.

Let me know what happens.

Maybe there is something going on in the special folder then...

That's strange, I don't recall doing anything in there other than what woman's move has you do.

I mix and match animations all the time. I change them out here and there and make all kinds of weird alterations, but I replace one file and the game flakes out.

I'll find a copy of tes4edit when I'm back home. Sorry about the delay on the report, but it may be a few weeks. I don't know how long they have me out here. :( I thought it was going to be a two week deal, but my work has other plans.

Thanks for taking the time to help me out by the way! This problem had me scratching my head before I left, and now it's keeping me up at night.

Sorry about the delay my friend. I just got back home tonight and opened my meshes folder.

I found the issue, but it wasn't one I would have expected. I searched the folder for "block attack" and found a backup copy I had made of blockattack.kf called onehandblockattack.kf. Apparently, despite having a name it wouldn't normally use, it still managed to pull from it.

Strange isn't it? Anyway, the issue is now solved.

Thanks again for assisting me with this!
