So I've been playing Sexout with Arwen's Realism Tweaks...

Recommended Posts

And damn, it's like a whole different ball game. I mean, obviously, something as extreme as Arwen's is going to change the entire game quite a bit anyway, but it's pretty interesting how it actually interacts with Sexout.

Suddenly things like SexoutLust's nymphomaniac perk actually seem to be... a real problem, not just a gaming excuse to have all the sex. With Arwen's, every SPECIAL point is absolutely vital, so being horny all the time is really quite crippling. I found that my char had to have sex any time it was remotely possible just to be able to function in any pseudo-competent way.

Also, and I suspect this may cause some problems (due to the way Arwen's vs. Sexout utilizes fatigue), but it hasn't yet, and is again rather interesting: getting combat raped (Sexout), passing out from blood loss immediately thereafter (Arwen's), and waking up naked in a ditch with only a knife on-hand, having to limp slowly back to Goodsprings from Primm so that Doc Mitchell could fix me up. Except I didn't have the caps, so I had to scavenge the town for whatever crap I could find to sell to Chet to get the caps for Doc to fix me. And unlike vanilla, getting fixed at a doc doesn't immediately cure you of everything 100% - my arm and leg are in splints, my wounds are infected (but healing thanks to antibiotics), and all I can really do for the next several days is get bedrest, masturbating like crazy and fucking occasionally just to keep my char sane.

It's good stuff.

And as brutal as Arwen's economy is, whoring will actually probably be a viable way to make some much-needed coin (in vanilla it always seemed silly for my char to whore herself out for 5 caps a pop or whatever, when she's got 20,000 caps on-hand from selling loot). I'm also pretty stoked to experience SewerSlave in these conditions.

I recommend you all give it a shot. There may be some bugs/incompatibilities I haven't run into yet, but it's a lot of fun so far.

Heh, and I thought my game was hardcore... I use a combination of Imp's More Complex Needs, Realistic Encumberance & MassRecalibration, a whole bunch of Puce Moose's plugins dealing with deadlier combat and harder economy, Gray's Everybody Bleeds, a mod called PINVplayer03 & PINVnpc03 (it has to do with lowering SPECIAL stats when you get hurt, don't remember what it is actually called) and TuckeredOut, among others. This means I don't just need food and water in general, I need to find fresh fruit for vitamins, it means that if I run downhill I might very well fall and break both legs, and many falls that a non-modded player could make easily will cause death or serious injury, it also means I can't run with 99% of my carryweightlimit for more than a minute or so, even with high endurance. Basically the game is a pain in the ass and that is how I like it. :D

I haven't really noticed any problems from Sexout with this combination though, granted, I am playing with SexoutLust but not with the Nympho perk.

I'll have to look into Arwen's if I'll do another playthrough though.

Those, put together like that, sound pretty similar to Arwen's really. I haven't learned all the ins and outs of it yet.

IMCNNV is definitely more "involved" than Arwen's foodstuff - hers is still basically just a food clock, but she hand-altered all the food items in the game and tweaked the hunger clock so you really pretty much have to put down 2-3 meals a day to make it by. This is not too annoying though as she also slows the game clock (1 hr irl = 8 hrs in-game, iirc, instead of 1/30).

She also has a fatigue/strain system that sounds sorta like that Realistic Encumberance. The more you carry, the faster your strain goes up, the more your strain goes up, the slower you move, etc... and if you hit 100% strain, you pass out from over-exertion. So you actually have to walk places (perhaps with short bursts of running), which in turn has made me appreciate the scenery a bit more. Add that to the fact that any random gecko that I don't spot in time could be my undoing, and the walk to Primm/Novac/whatever can really be pretty... intense.

Her Med-Tec module is probably my favorite though - the depth and involvement of wound management is really pretty amazing. Infection, bleeding/clotting, broken limbs and splints... good stuff. It's all made very clear and simple though by the in-game prompts, so it doesn't ever feel like "wtf am I doing!?" really. And you finally have a use for all those medical braces laying around. Heh.

I've never really gotten more "hardcore" than Project Nevada at default settings before, so this is all a new experience to me.

All Realistic Encumberance does is actually to lower your carryweight limit. IIRC it makes a char with 5 STR carry just under 100 lbs (so yeah, you need a backpack mod...).

MassRecalibration adds weight to previously unweighted items (including caps!) and changes the weight of other things. It is TuckeredOut that adds affects to running for too long, although no character, even if they are naked and carry nothing will eventually tire out. How long you can run is based on your END and your carryweight in % of maximum. Carrying 200% means you can pass out just walking a couple of meters in the comfort of your own home. I THINK it is TuckeredOut that also adds the severly reduced falling height and the breaking of bones. That is affected by AGI, a low-agility character can fall and break their legs even in a low inclination hill if they are running with a high carryweight.

I would like the more involved wound managment of Arwen's that you are describing though. The thing with IMCNNV is that as long as you keep your mood up you heal over time, and keeping mood up really isn't any challange, especially with the Sexout mod for Imp's which increases your mood every time you have sex (or even if you are raped with the Masochist perk).

Imp's also has an altered timescale, although this is both optional and adjustable, even with a dynamic timescale. I am currently running with a timescale of 15 outdoors, 5 indoors, and 1 when in battle.

For me the battles really has become unproblematic though, which is a weakpoint in my setup. The more hardcore battles has so far been made very easy by a couple of factors. The first is that I currently have 4 companions, Niner, Misty, Willow and ED-E, but that is my own choice and just leaving a couple of them behind would solve it. I need to do this anyway since it plays havoc with my framerate...

However with the deadlier combat from Puce Moose's I can really pick up most enemies very easily with just a scoped varmint rifle. Atleast early enemies like PG's, Vipers and Geckos have so far not given me any challange. I'll see what happens when I start running into more armoured foes later on.

I'm using arwen's tweaks ever since fallout3 and haven't played a play through without it.

Even made my own 100% compatibility patch for NVEC + Arwen, active at the same time.

Sad part is I can't experience sexout, since using a custom race, fails every sexout animation if it involves you in the act. :(

Each plugin of arwens realism tweaks can be used solely alone.

Here are the details:

The main esm, the base load it on bellow falloutnv.esm when your gonna use only a specific arwen module.

Realism module - self explanatory, gun shot effect, whacked effect, etc, etc

Med tech module - the realistic eating and injuries stuff, burns, cuts, bruises, infects so mant more etc. Trauma, fear, etc.

Hard core module - self explanatory. You really gonna feel like surviving a nuclear winter on the nevada desert

Encumberance module - no edits, just heavily awesome scripting, that implements straining, passing out, etc.

One Life Module - personal favorite, but alpha state (meaning crashing is unavoidable)

You don't need to save anymore, your character has only 1 life, when you die, you fall down, if your lucky several days passed you wake up on an interior severly injured, no clothing, missing items, missing weapons, woken up badly vision, or wake up somewhere in the nevada randomly to found out you were looted, if creature kills you you aren't looted, etc etc, for more details for this read her nexus mod page. Very more to explain there.

That's weird. I've been using nothing but custom races for my chars and it has always worked well.

My custom race uses new meshes, so I can be different from everyone else, what's weird I use the default animations, but when my pc starts having sex, I just float standing with invisible bodies.

But when using vanilla race, the problem doesn't exist.

Yeah it shouldn't be doing that' date=' I use custom and it works fine.

Dagnamit why does my fallout Nv not want me to try sexout again!

Another weird thing. Is when I use the very very old sexout, like I think was the very first release works fine with me. Lol

Well if you can upload the race I can take a look at it. If it works for me then it something in the load order, if it doesn't then you might have to create a patch.

What I would do is use a custom race with custom everything (like desert Succubus) as a base for the race you want to create. It sounds like you're missing something other custom races are doing.

One of the things I forgot to mention, that I really enjoy, are the "weapon effects". They're off by default, but are easily turned on in the in-game menu. They add fatigue damage to various types of weapons - so getting clobbered by a sledgehammer a time or two might knock you out, even if it didn't reduce your HP enough to kill you/activate OneLife. Same goes for enemies - a meatshot with a powerful shotgun or a well-swung baseball bat may well knock them on their ass. Since you're generally fighting more than one baddie at a time, though, it's much more of a problem for you, and I find it makes combat a good deal more difficult (even more difficult than it already is with bleeding, wounds etc). It really makes you stop and think before attacking, especially if it's more than just a couple of enemies.

I've never been interested in the normal Hard-Core mode from FONV, but damn, the Arwen stuff looks really interesting. Combine it with BrutalRapers from here and talk about a rough way to play. I also just discovered the roleplayers alternate start ( http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/45739 ). One of the starting location was a shack near 5-7 jackals, with no real way around, just through. Man that could be a pain. I think I will give this a try and see what happens...

Yeah, the normal hardcore more is basically just normal mode, except you have to remember to have a snack once every few days. It's not very "hardcore" at all.

Arwen's is fucking brutal.

Any tips on making Project Nevada, IMCNNV, and Sexout play nice together? I want to try IMCNNV, got everything else working great atm. Searching around about it brought up more horror stories than good news. Granted most of the horror stories are people who are fairly inexperienced with complex combos.

Arwens seems great for some of the stuff, but also seemed fairly incomplete in other areas. I think her stuff for Skyrim is more complete, but I could be totally wrong on this. Her mods list site has a lot of empty pages.

Edit: one thing I'm not willing to lose is PN Rebalance, since it gives the option of decreasing/increasing PC and NPC health and endurance. Most people use this to make everything weaker, so you 1 or 2 shot everything, or you get 1 or 2 shot. I'm the opposite, it's not "realistic" as far as the real world goes, but I like having long fights that require you to run, cover, heal, fight, etc., and PN Rebalance is the only one Ive seen where you can increase everyones health. NPCs are set to have more heath than my pc at all times, which definitely increases the length and difficulty of the fights which = more fun for me.

I had no problem running PN and IMCNNV together. Just make sure IMCN is lower in the load order' date=' and for all settings that the two share, make sure PNs stuff is all set to 0 (food effects, etc.).

[/quote']

Is it really that simple...? Might have to download PN...

The 2 things I learned in my search was that for IMCNNV and PN Rebalance is to set the timescale to 30 (default), and to disable Survival Based Needs.

I guess there are more idiots trying to install both than I supected, and the horror stories are user related =)

I'll give it a try later today, thanks for info.

Inspired by iron_jack's review, I started a new playthrough with Arwen's Realism Tweaks. And goddamn you did not exaggerate, survival is a real chore now. I've played it for several hours now but still havent made it farther than Primm, because I haven't been able to clear out the Primm casino yet.

I managed to take out 2 convicts inside the casino before I had to make a run for it, because I was in such a bad shape. After I got out I spent days regaining my health and scavenging anything I could find, to get a few caps for some ammo and extra bandages/stimpaks.

And like iron_jack said, prostitution seems like pretty much a necessity for me now, can't wait untill I get to Vegas so I can make some extra caps. The economy Arwen's Tweaks implements is so harsh I can very rarely afford stimpaks, ammo or doctor visits. So most of the time I've had to limp around with almost no ammo and low health/crippled limbs, avoiding unnecessary fights. And with soBrutalRapers and equipment/cap-theft enabled, the wasteland is truly a brutal and an unforgiving place.

I started thinking about making a small mod that would add some dialogue to few selected NPC's around the wasteland, to trade sex for just a single bandage, stimpak or something (with a hefty cooldown to avoid abuse, of course). Because right now I've spent alot of time looking around and scavenging stuff just to survive, and the one time I actually found a stimpak in a container I was filled with joy - which is how it should be, but just a little aid here and there won't spoil the experience, I think.

But yeah, many thanks to iron_jack for the advertisement, this is a completely different FNV experience.
