Strange events on the Prydwen

I only ever halfheartedly play through the BoS quests, since I sided with them in a previous playthrough. I learnt when to stop doing their quests.

I wont go into detail incase there is anyone who hasn't played through their storyline. 

I was just wondering wether anyone else has experienced what I did recently.

I'd just spoken to Elder Maxson, following a major fork in the story.  I left the command deck and as I entered  the main deck, I was surprised to hear a sounds of combat.

I moved through the BoS  peeps to see what was attacking them. I have never ever seen fighting on the airship.  well apart from when I attacked them during an institute playthrough.

I was amazed when I saw it was a single attacker in X-01 power armour.

 

I went closer to see who had stolen a suit of my power armour.

 

It was Paladin Danse!

 

a very unexpected event given that he has never been to any of my settlements, and even more importantly, the outcome of the previous quest.

Given what Maxon says to him and how you may have resolved the previous quest.... Did you happen to have Danse as your traveling companion?

During the Blind Betrayal quest if Danse is allowed to live (without mods) and you travel with him and encounter BoS, they will be hostile toward him.

I released him as a companion. I think.

the choice in the conversation I went with, gave me the impression, that he would be there if I needed him and we said our fairwells.

he  said something about improving the place where he was staying.  

 

I just had a revelation.   AFT.   I use it.  I never managed him via it though.  I did notice that the BoS couldn't kill him. maybe that was it.
