wootcat Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 I have a couple dozen mods installed, and I’m assuming this is being caused by a mod. I’m getting random objects becoming invisible in the game. In setting up my mods, I had to run through the Helgen intro many times. One example is in the locked cage in the torture room. Some times, the objects in the cell were invisible. If I mouse over and select one, they all then appear. 90% of the time, the coin purse in the cell further down the hall from the torture room is invisible. When I used Live Another Life, I had to google how to proceed from the cell because the statue of Dibella was invisible, and then google where the statue was so I could interact with it. Is this an issue with the base (SSE) game, or do you think a mod is causing this? Any fix? Mostly I’m worried about this happening later in the game.
khumak Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 You have a mod that has bad meshes for the invisible items. If they work in oldrim then either it's unconverted oldrim meshes or it's incorrectly converted meshes.
E Boy Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 I think he's talking about vanilla meshes disappearing, khumak. I had this same problem once, with the same mod (LAL's statue not showing up), but it was for a brief moment as I was setting up my Skyrim again. I have no clue how I fixed it, but I have. Try running LOOT, it solves most load order problems and might as well solve yours. If you can't find a solution, you can always use console commands to place objects in the world and giving you items. If your Skyrim version is pirated, I highly recommend buying it as I also used a pirate version and many problems came along because of that. Almost all of them stopped existing when I bought the game. Also, if your Skyrim copy is pirated, you shouldn't be posting stuff here asking for help. People don't usually like to help people with pirated games, as their problems may not have a solution at all.
wootcat Posted July 7, 2018 Author Posted July 7, 2018 It's not pirated. I'm not sure why you would assume that. I've owned it for six years. Bought on disc. Currently running SE purchased through Steam. I also ran LOOT. I looked up and watched a few tutorial videos on installing MO2 and some of the more complex mods I installed.
khumak Posted July 8, 2018 Posted July 8, 2018 If it's an item from the base game that's invisible you should check the mods that you have that affect those same items. It's easiest if they use loose files since you can use your mod manager to see which files conflict. If they use a BSA then you won't be able to see the file conflicts unless you unpack the BSA. Every case I've run into like this, it's always a mod that is either using unconverted oldrim meshes or it's been converted using an older version of NIF Optimizer. Most oldrim meshes work fine in SE but some of them are either invisible or cause CTDs. The easiest way to test is to use Alternate Start to go to the affected area without any other mods just to verify that the item looks fine without mods, then load up your modded game and uninstall the mods you know of that affect that area and check again. If you still have the problem then you pretty much have to just keep uninstalling mods in batches until the problem is gone keeping track of which mods you uninstalled each time so you know which mod it was. Then you can run the meshes for the problem mod through NIF Optimizer and your problem should be fixed. It can be a pain to identify since some mods include meshes for things that they don't need to. The latest case I ran into was for some walls that were invisible from certain angles near Markarth. Whichever mod was causing it didn't actually change the layout or the look of the walls so there's no reason it should have needed to include the meshes for them but it did. I actually resolved that one accidently when I removed several of my mods for unrelated reasons so I'm not even sure which one was doing it. I have a similar issue in my current game as well that I haven't gotten around to identifying yet. The Solitude docks has an invisible boat with floating hatches/etc. Which tells me that one of my mods added a boat there and has messed up meshes.
