Ramunepop Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 So I managed to successfully mash an outfit together, even learned all that fancy stuff like bone weighting and what not in the process. So my next step was to follow an Elianora tutorial on making it standalone instead of replacing a mesh, because the one I was replacing I think is still conflicting with it where gloves are. but I digress. In preparation for her tutorial, I created directories in both Textures and Meshes under my name and made copies of all the original textures. then in Outfit Studio I went in to each parts' properties and changed the directories. However, I got to a part that when I change the texture path, it registers it fine at first and shows up, but when I click "OK" to get out of Shape Properties, it instantly goes to "no image' texture. I'm not quite sure what to do considering the rest of the parts reacted just fine.
AWP3RATOR Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 Fallout 4 uses materials files to point a mesh to the textures. Updating the texture paths directly in either OS or NifSkope doesn't produce any changes if a materials file is present. Note that these texture references do work, but only when a materials file is not present. See below for Outfit Studio: Same in NifSkope: To edit texture paths when a materials file is present, you will need to use the Materials Editor and edit the BGSM (or BGEM) file referenced on the mesh layer. In the Vault 111 suit example, that looks like this: If you are making a new outfit (not a replacer) and do not wish to alter the materials/textures of the existing items, first copy/clone the materials file, name it something different (e.g. ramunepop_outfit_01.bgsm) then point the mesh layers to this new materials file.
Ramunepop Posted July 2, 2018 Author Posted July 2, 2018 Thank you very much. I had a feeling it had to do with that BGSM, but I haven't quite learned enough. I appreciate this!
