xwhiteninjax Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 to install a stable game it is mandatory, to check your installed OS... virusfree, stable, all needed updates, graphicdrivers... you know the drill after this we will do a clean steam-install into our game-hdd/-partition (here D:\) with a fresh skyrim installation MO2 will have an own directory inside the steam-directory ... \steamapps\common... it will not be installed inside the ...\common\skyrim-dir Dyndolod will be installed inside the root-directory of D:\ Attention: after installing merge plugins (essential for modding) you will find out, that the right directory for modorganizer2 is INSIDE the gamedir as LOOT, WryeBash... see comments for installing merge plugins topic SKSE will be installed inside the game-directory of skyrim... after this we will try to install as much other tools with MO as possible, since it will be easier to manage updates within MO. If it is better to do it otherwise, we will explain it with the special tool itself
xwhiteninjax Posted June 18, 2018 Author Posted June 18, 2018 first step... doing a backup of the existing installed skyrim-version (if something will go seriously wrong, we will be able to restore this version to play as before) with huge storageplace it is possible to simply copy the existing skyrim-dir to another (backup-)place... I prefer to use a real backupprogram, since it is a very good idea to save special steps during our workshop to have a tested fallback-version if we are messing up with the installation with a decent connection to steam it should be possible to install a clean steam and skyrim within several minutes... since we will using SKSE we will install this tool inside the skyrim-dir with its installer (one of the exceptions we WILL install inside the gamedir... but the goal is to keep the gamedir free of stuff, mostly SKSE... one of the most mistakes is it, not to make sure to have the needed scripts, installed, too... the script.rpa of SKSE is mandatory for later moddings (CK, Papyrus etc.)... MO should detect a successfully installed version of SKSE (and the creation kit) fresh from the installation of MO... same for LOOT... LOOT... we will install the latest independent version of LOOT (and never use the inbuild version of MO)
