SCORN - Skyrim Consistently Oppressive and Rewritten Narrative (Alpha Release) 0.3.0.1

SCORN rewrites Skyrim's dialogue for a colder, meaner world, one that runs on power and patriarchy. NPCs talk like they want something, or want you gone. Guards threaten instead of warn. Merchants size you up. Men assume authority; women get reminded where they stand. Nobody here thinks the Dragonborn is chosen. You claw for every scrap of respect you get.

Disclaimer: I started on this a while ago, since then I got a bit burnt out on skyrim + skyrim modding, im still here and around and will likely spend more time on skyrim again (I always do) though. That said, I was sad seeing all of this work sitting on my drive collecting dust, and i was pretty happy with the result. so uploading as is, in my play testing it worked well, but not thoroughly publicly tested state

 

The world of SCORN

 

• Power talks down. Jarls, guards, and shopkeepers speak from above. Politeness is conditional and mostly withheld.
• It is a man's province. The world is patriarchal and openly sexist. NPCs address the player as a woman and treat her as lesser for it: dismissive, possessive, or leering, depending who's talking.
• Everyone is out for themselves. Kindness has a price. Help comes with a sneer or an angle.
• Written for a female player character. Most of the dialogue assumes the Dragonborn is a woman and reacts to her as one
• Deliberately dark and openly misogynistic in tone by design. Expect demeaning dialogue directed at the player and at women in the world
  • Language is not quite as intense as Sexist Vanilla, Sexist Guards, or Misogynistic Guards; if you want to use any of those, just load them after this mod.

 

ACTUAL VOICE LINES

 

Gorm, in Morthal's hall:
  VANILLA: Mind your manners in this hall, friend.
  SCORN:   Mind your manners in this hall, friend. And anyone who forgets their place will be reminded of it. Firmly.

 

Balgruuf, to his housecarl Irileth:
  VANILLA: Heard about that, did you? Yes, I went out for a pint or two. What of it?
  SCORN:   The gate guards report to you now, do they? Yes, I went out for a pint. A Jarl does not account to a woman, Irileth.

 

A Windhelm market vendor:
  VANILLA: I hope you have coin to spend, and you're not just here to gawk at my goods.
  SCORN:   Hope you've coin to spend, girl, not just here to gawk.

 

Praise, at the mine:
  VANILLA: You work hard, Daighre. Glad you have stayed with us.
  SCORN:   You pull your weight. Didn't think a woman would.

 

Alvor, at the Riverwood forge:
  VANILLA: The grindstone will improve your weapons. Use the table to improve your armor.
  SCORN:   The grindstone will improve your weapons. Use the table to improve your armor. Mind the forge without a man watching.

 

An Ivarstead local who'd rather you left:
  VANILLA: Is it absolutely necessary for you to bother me right now?
  SCORN:   Is it absolutely necessary for you to bother me right now? I'm working. Go find something useful to do, girl.

 

A city guard, reminiscing:
  VANILLA: I used to be an adventurer like you. Then I took an arrow in the knee...

A Shield-Sister, in Jorrvaskr:
  VANILLA: Don't let them intimidate you, sister. We both know how to keep our heads while the men let their hearts rule.
  SCORN:   Don't let them get to you, sister. Men fight with their hearts. We keep our heads. That's our way.

 

Mirabelle Ervine, at the College of Winterhold:
  VANILLA: The College of Winterhold has been a fixture in Skyrim for thousands of years.
  SCORN:   The College has stood here longer than your bloodline. Treat it with respect.

 

A thief in the Ragged Flagon, on growing up:
  VANILLA: I'll tell you about the time I was a young girl, barely out of her teens... living on a pig farm in the middle of nowhere.

WHAT'S BEEN CHANGED
 

SCORN goes after the dialogue you actually hear, not a percentage of the game's total. Around 1,900 lines rewritten so far, weighted to the high-traffic stuff:

 

• City ambient & street chatter: Whiterun, Windhelm, Riften, Solitude, Markarth, and the smaller towns
• Innkeepers, merchants & barter: greetings, haggling, services
• Guards: challenges, threats, idle lines
• Jarls & their courts: Balgruuf, Elisif, the war-camp leaders, stewards and housecarls
• Faction questlines: Companions, Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, College of Winterhold
• Quest and follower dialogue across the main locations

USE OF AI
 

(I add this for transparency, because I like to be transparent. Please be kind, and if you don't like this mod or how I approached it: ignore it, improve it, or make your own.)

Writing is largely AI generated for broad sweeps, with some manual rewrites here and there. Voices are generated with Inworld TTS. A language model wrote the lines against a fixed tone brief, matched to each line's original Skyrim voice type, so gender, race, and unique NPC voices stay intact. Voice quality varies. Point out the rough ones.

INSTALLATION
 

1. Install with a mod manager and run the FOMOD installer.
2. Select:
   1. SCORN Core: the rewritten dialogue and voices (required)
   2. Compatibility patches: tick each listed mod you already run (see below)
3. Sort your load order (LOOT is fine). Patch plugins are mastered to load after both SCORN and their source mod.

Running a dialogue mod that isn't listed? If it doesn't touch the same
vanilla lines SCORN rewrote, no patch is needed. They coexist on their own.

STATUS
 

Evolving and now slow-moving project. v0.3.0, base dialogue release. Coverage prioritizes the lines you hear most and grows each version. Feedback on tone consistency and any out-of-character lines is genuinely useful. DDR enhancement will be revisited at a later date.
