Tentacled Dreams

Description:

This is the official discussion topic for the CK3 port of Tentacled Dreams! I will share any progress I make here and update the roadmap as phases are completed. You can also chat about it on the LV discord server here. I will probably make a new server for TD with the first release.

 

(The downloadable image is a placeholder only! I can't add a downloads page to a normal topic after creation, so I'd have to create a whole new post with the first update if I don't do it like this.)

I will update this as phases get completed. Feel free to discuss the phases or anything related to the mod, but keep in mind I won't work on any suggestions until the final phase.

There is no time frame for now. I'll work on it as I get time! If you'd like to support my efforts, you can find links for that on the LV page or Discord. I won't post any links here until I have something ready to download. ?

 

 

Progress Update 1:

 

Sorry for the lack of updates! I know, not the best thing to say as a first progress update.? Not that there's a lot to share yet, but I did say I'd make some small progress updates in a few LV posts. I was a little sick a few weeks ago and took a break from modding in general since then.

 

Butt! I have made some progress, the first phase (planning phase) is for the most part complete. There still some things I need to decide on, but this is the rough direction I am probably going to take:

 

  • For the most part, many of the events and decisions in the ck2 version can be converted. Ck3 lacks many of the systems to "hide" things, which means I will have to adapt the old content with a new way of delivering it.
  • Ck3 does have a minor secrets system that will definitely be used. Societies ofc do not exist.
  • Due to not having a proper way of hiding tentacle related things outright,  small events to gradually corrupt players and unlock more parts of the mod will be needed. The ck2 version does this too, but small things like religions having to set a doctrine on their stance towards tentacles will be visible from the start (like witchcraft). It's not really an issue and something I'll probably find a way to do better eventually.
  • I think the travel mechanic will be a great way of creating more encounter opportunities. Royal court will also be a good mechanic to use for events, like the ones you can get when holding tentacle festivals and such in your holdings.
  • I will be using a combination of both 2d and 3d art assets. While I can make the 3d models myself, any help is welcome!

 

The next phase (porting phase) is currently underway. I've already ported many of the core code and (before I took a break) I was nearing a testable version. Not testable by users yet, that's still a few months away, but something I can put in the mod folder and test in game myself.

There are some other things I didn't mention, but I think this is enough for a first progress update. ?
