This page will help you get familiar with how the game system works so that you're better equipped to both install mods and create mods.
this page will be updated over time when I find new information, so check back frequently. (last changed feb/20/2026)

Game Abbreviations:
There are quite a few Senran Kagura games, and while most mods work fine across all games, when you need to specify it's good to have everyone use the same abbreviations, so as a reminder:
SK = Senran Kagura (franchise)
SV = Shinovi Versus
DC = Deep Crimson
EV = Estival Versus
RE = Burst RE:Newal
PBS = Peach Beach Splash
PB = Peach Ball

BA = Bon Appetit!
RF = Reflexions

Files & Folders:
Most mods in Senran Kagura simply involve overwriting a .cat file in the game's files, most things have both a H (high res) and L (low res) version, H versions are displayed during special animations and in diorama mode while L versions are displayed in game when you're fighting.
you can access your Senran Kagura files by right clicking the game on steam > manage > browse local files this will open the game's folder, from here, the paths to important folders will look something like this:

Character Numbers:

Each character in Senran Kagura is assigned a number, which can frequently be found on files in most of those folders listed above, for example "wpn00_H.cat" is Asuka's weapon, keep in mind the different games often use the same numbers, and this list uses the the pl files as reference:
