Starting Out

Same name my blog had at DA... except we called them journals back then. :P

So anyway, I obviously decided to start one here. Originally my idea was to post a story I have planned based on Skyrim. Naturally it'd include many of the kinky mods here and their effect on the story. Well, it turns out anything adult is technically against the blog rules. sooo that MAY be out.

I'll have to talk to the staff here and find out how strictly that part of the rules is enforced. Worst case scenario, I post a link to each new piece of the story as I post it on WordPress.

For a couple of days I was doing quite a bit of post whoring on the forums here. I've already scaled that back. Mainly because I didn't see any point in dealing with the mindless confrontation one or two people wanted to start. My time moderating DA should have taught me trollish behavior is going to pop up anywhere people can hide behind an avatar, so the only one I'm mad at is myself for unrealistic expectations.

Why it should be too much to ask to have a debate on what was actually written instead of pulling false presuppositions out of one's ass I have no idea, but such is life.

That's as close as I want to get to trollimg myself. Long story short, I just decided to walk away from a couple of threads instead of trying to have a debate with somebody who couldn't even acknowledge what was actually being discussed. Years ago at DA, I took great joy in picking apart that kind of argument line by line, using breakdowns of the other person's post with quotes from other posts to refute what they were saying. I'm older and wiser now and have realized two things:

1) That still never got people to accept the folly of their own false arguments

2) Life is too short to get wrapped up in that kind of drama. The best way to disarm a troll is to not feed it, and there's just too many other, more enjoyable things to do.

OK, end of mini-rant. Despite that rant I have to say I've been pretty impressed by most of the people I've read on the forums. Even in the majority of cases where I've disagreed with people, they've been able to articulate their views clearly and in an adult manner. Pretty impressive for people the haters at the Nexus and elsewhere would label as a bunch of deranged perverts. So much for stereotypes, eh folks? :D

Suffice it to say I'll still be poking around the forums some, just not as much as i was doing before.

As for the blog, I'm not quite sure what I'll be using it for. Rants are pointless wastes of energy, even if anyone cared. Granted we all need to rant occasionally. Disclosing a bunch of personal stuff online is not my style either. Stories are likely, but I'm probably gonna have to contact the staff for clarification on exactly what is acceptable. I have to clear up a bunch of real life drama around here before I'm going to be ready to do any creative writing though.

Deja Vu...  A little over a year later and I'm still experiencing the same things, right down to the intellectually challenged people who can't discuss (or read) what was actually said.

I could write the whole previous entry almost word for word today, lol.  The only difference is that not only have I continued to walk away from discussions that aren't, I've also started using the ignore button.

Continuing to think out loud...  There's my mod work.  Lots of planned options for Dawnguard Sentries for starters, and now I've taken on the idea of a comprehensive Crafting expansion.  Actually made fair progress there also, but I have a LONG way to go to get it where I want.  I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by the work load.

Then of course there was my kinky Skyrim story that I wanted to do here, and my other side writing projects.  Dunno if I'll ever get them going since I get severe writer's block so easily.

When did having fun become so much work?  LOL  :D
