Due to her upbringing, Sol can appear somewhat cold and ruthless at first glance. Having had to survive on the hard lands of the Rift, she is resourceful and cunning, often using her wit rather than strength to overcome difficult situations. Despite her hard shell, Sol cares deeply for her companions, whom she views as family, though this may not be very clear. Her personality commands respect from her cohorts, and her mere presence will silence any opposition.

Sol was orphaned at a young age, having lost her parents when she was an infant. She was placed into a cruel and abusive orphanage in Riften, where she quickly escaped from and has lived along the outskirts of Riften in Solitude. Sol quickly made herself infamous with her cunning and skill, often stealing and tricking the citizens in order to survive the harsh reality of Skyrim and the Rift. For the next 10 years, her reputation had earned her an invitation to Riften's Thieves' Guild, where she quickly rose in ranks. In a mere 3 years, she had removed Mercer Frey from power and took the position of Guildmaster. Under her command, the Thieves' Guild has entered a new Golden Age.
