Games with open endings
Well, thats what I personally want as a player - the game which will never end (or at least will not and until I`m not getting bored of it and stop playing). Yeah, I just like to sit sometimes to computer and play.., hmm, more correctly - to live the game.
That`s why I`m very disappointed with current game industry flows. In RPGs, because I`m mostly RPG fan. Why they advertize a game as a "big open world with many actions and many ways bla-bla-bla", and then cut it, and guide players in game as they are blind.
Of course "it`s a bizneez" (as Cass in FONV mentioned) and we are just customers to companies. But why WE are bying products that are bad, or not ready to be sold?
As example.. first is STALKER Shadow of Chernobil (ok, this is not RPG but... it`s so homely fo players in former USSR). The Zone which must be full of perils (anomalies, mutants, hostile stalkers etc.) for me was something as a old bad b/w TV-show. Finished game in couple of hours and thrown it away - I dont play games which oriented on kids 5-7 years old. ![]()
After couple of months accidentally found mod for ShC (I don`t search for it, just wanted to read something of STALKER series).
And that was another game. Hard and difficult, and more realistic (in terms of Zone reality).
Than goes FO3 and FONV. I am a God of the Wasteland, allmighty etc. One thing that I can`t do - kill children. They are most powerfull faction in FO3, and if they ever came out of Little Lamplight, they easily conquer all DC... what is this? On low levels only deathclaws are hard enemies for player.
And.. endings. Yeah, I understand that developers do games with endings with a purpose - to make people buyind addons, sequels etc. And it is sad for me...
Why must players pay their money and then "after assembly to process with a rasp" (or how its on english called such instrument)? In fact - creating games more than developers do... Another one sad thing.
Maybe somebody someday will create a game which will be like "by gamers for gamers".... ![]()
