Project Aetherius: Part 1 - The Planning Board

Misplaced Reality

There's always something on my head, always something I want to make; to create, and I start fantasizing about this "thing" that is yet formless, that stays as an abstract series of thoughts and chaos in my head until I sit down and prepare myself to put all these ideas into something real. There are several steps throughout a mod's creation and for Project Aetherius the first step has been completed. However, I feel like sharing what I have done in this "first step" towards my mod's creation.

First of all, if you have an idea then you should note it down and keep it on your head for some time, you always need to let an idea rest down as your mind will keep adding stuff until you have formed the earliest concept of the said idea. The brainstorming that takes place will allow you to form the basis of what you will be working on.

When you are done with the brainstorming phase, you have to ensure how much of what you want is technologically possible. I am sure there are a lot of great mod ideas out there, but the very first challenge is the same technology that is available to you. Consulting experienced modders, or browsing around modding communities (for samples or to get a general idea about the technology available) is a very good idea. You also should consider physical limitations, and skill set.

It is always best to present what I said above as questions, for example "Can my idea work?" "Does the engine support this, if so, is there any resource that can help me make this possible?" "Will I need help, or I can do this alone?" "Can I realistically complete this work?" and through these questions you will have the idea ready to get to work further into the mod.

Now, returning to Project Aetherius, I have had the idea on my head for two weeks, and then I consulted some modders and Skyrim players on how solid the idea sounded; afterwards, what I did was sit down and write what the mod will be about, and here's what I came up with;

Ever got bored of dungeons? Ever felt that you went through the same thing over and over again?

How many mods have you played that add a dungeon, only to feel tired of the same static content

over and over again?

Riddle of Aetherius aims to change that; every week Riddle of Aetherius takes you into a mini-dungeon,

that each is part of a larger story and plot specifically developed in episodic content to be released weekly.

With many as 10 episodes planned for now, Riddle of Aetherius aims to provide a more dynamic

approach to Skyrim.

So, as you can see, the idea of the mod is clear, and I will proceed to post about the next step that will be about creating a draft of the mod that showcases the idea based on what is written above-- effectively allowing me to analyze whether the mod can work or not.

Have a great weekend,

Misplaced Reality
