A lot more work done on the new followers

So the teasers I showed you guys the other day, while having the basic concept, did not really have a finished touch like I wanted. Now while I showed the pics, I KNEW I was going to be making a 3rd follower, and making each of the 3 followers facials unique. The pics I posted on the 13th simply had a rough copy of my characters face ( SPF FollowerFaceTest if you want to know ). So the past 2 days I have been making them much more unique in facial appearance. The 3 pics I am attaching will show you my final facial designs, but for you blog readers, here is the extra on how I came up with them :

Ok so the Devil Knight follower is my extremely close attempt at replicating a follower from a different mod. It's not the exact same, I had to rig it with all the different Celestial head and body data, and I had to use different eye.tri's to get the Devil Knight eyes to work, but overall I think I came as close as I possibly could.

The Angel Knight had a starting BASE of a follower I found on 3DGames.com, but that would CTD as soon as I went to get them. Replacing darn near everything and then fine tuning every slider I could lead to the end result you see. It's actually not even close to what I had originally planned, but you know what? I don't care because in the end I think what I came up with looks pretty stunning and fits the thematics of Angel Knight spot on.

The last follower, and the new one, is, well, for lack of a better explanation, me. Or that is to say, a close representation of what my character looks like. You're not getting ME exactly, simply because there is no way for me to adjust the multitude of optional tweaks found in the RaceMenu by Expired. I did the best I could with the CK being my only means of build. The final follower is a Celestial Human type, or a "non - form ". She is a rogue type, starts with the light version of the standard gift armor, dual wields 2 daggers, can use a bow if need be, and has a heal she will use once a fight if she drops below 1/4 health.

While some minor fine tuning to default AI is still going on, most everything seems to be working how I want it, with all that's left is some major tuning to balance ( unlike some follower mods, I don't want my followers to be OP. While I want them to be able to hold their own, and they are all set to essential, I feel that a single follower taking out every one of whiteruns guards single handed is silly. All 3 together should be able to do it but only when working together, and if you join in, then well ya, there are 4 of you ).

Also, I myself was CTD'ing in frequent occasions with the new followers. For many hours I had no idea why but didn't give up trying to figure it out. Well I figured it out. See, the followers aren't actually CELESTIALS, not the race, they are Nords. I HAD to do this for certain reasons. See, in order to make them an actual custom race ( in this case Celestials ) they need to be a separate mod that has the race mod as a dependency. So I did this first and built them that way ( CelestialFollowers.esp REQUIRED Celestials.esp to be installed and loaded ), only for it to STILL happen. Huh. Well it turns out that the custom race the followers are built off of HAS to be a MASTER (.esm ). Ok, now I did it ( I know how to esmify an esp ), and sure enough my CelestialFollowers.esp worked just fine once I made Celestials a .esm and I stopped having CTD problems, but boy this presented a whole set of NEW problems. One, making it a .esm ment everyone who downloaded the new version that I released as a .esm would be back to the problem from V4 to V5 upgrade when I introduced RaceCompatibility. The game acts like it's a brand new mod you never had installed, so you load up the game and you suddenly have no head \ face \ body data ( IF your a Celestial, and I would hope most of my users are ), would have to console to fix it, stats might get borked in some situations, basically a big clusterfuck. The other problem as I see it with making it an .esm was as a master, you could no longer move Celestials around in your load order. I know personally, having Celestials loaded toward the bottom solves all kinds of problems, but having it always be at the top of the load order might cause issues with many of my users depending on what other mods they have installed. So in the end, I just built them from Nords and made them as close to "Celestial" as I possibly could.

One last thing, a question for my blog followers. I was thinking of changing the follower names. So Celestial Devil Knight becomes Celestial BattleMage, Celestial Angel Knight stays the same, and the new follower is named Shaydow ( after my character and online name ) but would be named Celestial Shaydow Warrior, since Warrior is the name I picked for all the Celestial Light Armors, and she is a Light Armor using rogue. What do you guys think?

If you read this far, you deserve the new pics. Note I will also be posting these in the official Celestials thread, so I can get some feedback from most users on the new facial features if they wish to leave it.

This is looking to turn out really nice. I like the Shaydow Warrior name, to me it actually brings to mind a roguish character. As for the others, I sort of feel that if you change one's name, you might as well change the other one too. Angelic Guardian might be good one. That said, I am partial to personalized names for followers. Keep up the great work.

Yes!!! Not sure if you remember but I was like id love followers. AND you have delivered ! So Excited! Thank You!

Battle Mage, sounds nice, But keeping with the Knights theme may keep it uniform. Tho to most of us it probably doesn't matter much considering you're makin AWESOME followers

P.S. Making them a default race is probably the smarter move incase you plan later down the road to make the standalone followers. Default races are easier to make standalone, and standalone followers are the most compatible with heavily modded games when it comes to updating.
