It started on the first day I departed Vault 76.  In hindsight, I was glad to leave.  An all-day-all-night celebration for all Vault 76's citizens and support personnel ended with me vomiting in my toilet and then crashing head first in the last comfortable bed I would sleep in for years to come.  Rising from my alcoholic slumber, I soon discovered I was the last remaining inhabitant of this amazing vault, this Vault 76.  Collecting what I would need survive in a new apocalyptic world, I rummaged through the Overseer's office for any bit, any scrap of knowledge on my way to the vault's main door.  Once outside and into the forest region of central Appalachia, I was awestruck to what survived and was destroyed.  All I can say I've never shot up so much mutated shit and spent so many bullets, probably enough to measure the length of two life times.  Along the way, I started to record and store a variety of encounters and keep a journal of sorts.  A journal that will detail the variety of locations and its inhabitants, a collection of historical records for future generations to come.  Use my journals wisely, as they may save your life someday...

Here's a song.  I play this from time to time since I haven't died yet.  To quote David Byrne, "And you may ask yourself, Well, how did I get here!"

Continue past the lyrics and all the way to the bottom of this page.  Wild times indeed!

Once in a Lifetime Lyrics

[Verse 1]
And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack
And you may find yourself in another part of the world
And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife
And you may ask yourself, “Well, how did I get here?”

[Chorus]
Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground

[Verse 2]
And you may ask yourself, “How do I work this?”
And you may ask yourself, “Where is that large automobile?”
And you may tell yourself, “This is not my beautiful house”
And you may tell yourself, “This is not my beautiful wife”

[Chorus]
Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground

[Bridge]
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was

[Verse 3]
Water dissolving and water removing
There is water at the bottom of the ocean
Under the water, carry the water
Remove the water at the bottom of the ocean
Water dissolving and water removing

[Chorus]
Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, into the silent water
Under the rocks and stones, there is water underground
Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground

[Verse 4]
You may ask yourself, “What is that beautiful house?”
You may ask yourself, “Where does that highway go to?”
And you may ask yourself, “Am I right? Am I wrong?”
And you may say to yourself, “My God! What have I done?”

[Outro]
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was and look where my hand was
Time isn't holding up, time isn't after us
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Letting the days go by, same as it ever was
Here a twister comes, here comes the twister
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was (Letting the days go by)
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was (Letting the days go by)
Once in a lifetime (Let the water hold me down)
Letting the days go by (Water flowing underground)
Into the blue again
