Prelude to a Bloodbath
Introduction (Because I deleted a few entries that didn't quite measure up)
Ysmira is dead, and Sonja has drank all her blood, thus absorbing her powers as dragonborn, and making herself Tamriel's last hope against Alduin. Poised to take over the Volkihar clan from within, she has seduced Lord Harkon into naming her a Princess of the Volkihar, putting her on equal footing with his own daughter, Serana, and replacing Valerica as his consort. Having already ingratiated herself with most of Harkon's Court, either by cunning, or by seducing them, Sonja has carefully set the stage for his inevitable downfall.
Ysmira's former lover, Lord Vimar remains a prisoner at Castle Volkihar while awaiting his own execution for having plotted against Harkon. A proud nord himself, Lord Vimar has demanded trial by combat so as to meet his end in epic battle with the Lord of the Volkihar. Unbeknownst to him, Sonja has been working to arrange a pardon for him, if only to use him against Lord Harkon when the time is right...
After making herself an enemy of the Yarl of Whiterun, Balgruuf the Greater while threatening him in order to put a stop to Lydia's execution, Sonja has decided to betray the Empire, and bring the Jagged Crown to Ulfric Stormcloak. As Kodlak's chosen Harbinger, her shield brothers and sisters in the Companions are none too pleased with her open involvement in Skyrim's civil war, and the dishonorable way she obtained her dragonborn powers. To answer for this, the Companions have summoned her to the Underforge.
