Today is the 23rd of October. Exactly 210 years have passed since I last wrote in my diary. I remember as if it was yesterday. For me it WAS yesterday.

I don't know wher to begin, i feel so lost, so alone, so powerless...

On the 23rd of october, 210 years ago, as I was cooking some lamb for the neighbours whith whom we were about to celebrate Robert's new security contract with Robco and my change of project in the same group, on that fateful day, the bombs fell. "Lucky" for us, Boston wasn't the 1st big city to be bombed so we just had the time to get to the vault we were registered to. Barely...

 

 

We went down just in time to see one bomb fall, and I guess that seconds after the lift to the vault took us down, all that we had, or that we knew, our home, our neighbours and friends, our life and future, was just erased.

I had to let Robert take Shaun when we were down, fear and despair had just robbed me of all the strength I had left and I barely was able to walk as I got deeper into this vault, where I was told that very same day that I'd have a new life if the bombs fell.

After we went down, we were greeted by some vault-tec personnel. I don't really remember what they told us, but it was eery how calm they were, as if they expected the world to end. Well, I guess that when you work for a vault company, you have to kind of think that it could happen, but still...

They had us change into some kind of blue jumpsuit, and we then followed a doctor up to a room full of weird kind of sealed vertical beds. Some other refugees were already entering into them. Now that I think about it, I realize that, as a scientist, I should have been more wary of these things, they were clearly not some simple decontamination pods. HoweverI was not myself then, the shock had probably robbed me of my ability toquestion anything and simply obeyeed when they told me to get into one. 

 

As the lid closed on me, and while the doctor kept talking to me in a sedated tone, as you would a scared child, or pet. Then it occured to me that these pods were for too complex to used only for decontamination. And the automated voice announcing a count down before the "cryogenisation" proved me right but it was too late to struggle.

As I felt the cold making me drowsy, I stared at the pod facing my own, in which Robert, still holding Shaun was smiling at me. I don't think that he really understood that we had just been scammed by Vault-tec... Smiling despite myself at him, I fell asleep.

How long had I slept when I was awoken by the automated voice. I didn't know, I still don't even though I have a better idea. However, that wasn't the end of my sleep, but maybe just another step in this weird nightmare my life seemed to have become. And as in a dream, still caged in my own pod i watched the one containing Shaun and Robert open at the command of 2 unknown persons.

I was too drowsy, everything is blurry, I never really completely got out of my dream like state, and I don't really know if what i saw, or thought that I saw happen, or if it was just a dream in my long cryo sleep.

 

 

Did they really shoot Robert? Kidnap Shaun? Did this scarred and scary man really call me the "back up"? Or was it just a dream induced by the cryo sleep?

I still don't know. Today is the day I woke up for good, or at least i belive so. But I woke up in a a different Vault, we could say in a different world from the one I remember.

I took me a while to realize that i wasn't asleep anymore. But when I did, i realized the place was lit, and that there wasn't anyone any more in the pod facing mine.

Also, the place wasn't as "pristine" as it was before. I couldn't see very well, trapped in the pod as I was, but some kind of table covered with clutter and porn magazines had appeared in front of my pod.

Try as i way, I could not find any release command from the inside of the cryo pod. Suddenly sure that I was going to die, trapped in there, I started calling for help. And was Actually really surprised when I heard not that far away someone say:

Rodolf: "Fuck! What the hell is that?"

That wasn't the end to my surprises though (by far I must say). The face that appeared in front of me was, horrible. Like someone who had been burnt and I gasped despite myself. That didn't seem to anger the "man" in front of me. In fact, he kept looking at me for a while before mumbling:

Rodolf: "Well fuck me sideways and call me Shirley. You've... Defrozen. And you're actually alive! That Moron Fatruto was fucking right!"

Titties: "I... Who... What are you?" I asked.

Rodolf: "Oh, hey right, Guess you prewar girls don't know what a ghoul is right? Well, I am a ghoul, we're uglyer, but sturdier than humans. That's what, Name's Rodolf, Rotty to my friends."

Titties: "Err, Titania. Say could you open my pod?"

Rodolf: "Titania? What kinda name is that? Well guess that makes you Titties then right? Considering the goods on you that'll fit you like a glove then. Or a bra, right? But i'd say you're doing mighty fine without one."

Looking down, I realised that my jumpsuit was opened almost all the way down. And try as I may, the zipper was stuck.

While I was struggling with it. Rodolph started calling:

Rodolf: "Oy, Fatruto, Get your fat ass over here! Your goddess has awoken!"

Another voice answered, coming closer:

Naruto: "What? You sure? If that is another of your pranks I'll..."

Rodolf: "You'll what you idiot? Clobber my to death with one of your porn mags? Now look, Does this look Like a prank to you?"

The other man, middle aged and overweight looked at me with adoration.

Naruto: "Thank god, you've finally awoken Oh Supradent Goddess. I knew this day would come!"

Titties: "I... Thank you I... Supra... Goddess... What?"

Rodolf started laughing.

Rodolf: "Ah well, we've been here a while and, Fatruto here..."

Naruto: "Naruto you mashed face!"

Rodolf: "Right... Naruto here has taken a liking to you. He made a kind of altar, saying that you must be the supardant pornstar from before the war. Well, I have to say you do look alike, so maybe he's right..."

Titties: "Err? I don't really understand a thing that you're saying. But, Robert, my husband, and my baby Shaun. They were in the pod facing mine, did they get out already? Are they around?"

Rodolf: "What? Who? No Idea lady."

Naruto: "Goddess, when we found this vault open, 6 or so months ago, you were the only one, all the other pods were empty."

Titties: "Fuck, what the hell is happening, where are they!"

Naruto: "Calm down Goddess, can we... Do you need something from us?"

Titties: "I am so lost right now, I don't understand anything, the world has gone crazy!"

Rodolf: "Hey! Calm your tits, Titties. The world might be mad, but that's the one there is now, so you better get used to it, so what do you say you get out of this sarcophagus?"

I took a few breath to calm myself while the 2 men argued.

Naruto: "Why do you call her that you asshole? Show some respect!"

Rodolf: "Well, that's her name, or close enough, that goes with the package I'd say."

Naruto: "Well, true, but that's still disrepectful."

Rodolf: "Yeah, right, but who cares..."

Titties: "Guys, please, you are right, so... Could you take me out?"

Naruto: "Err... we thought the command was inside, that red handle does nothing hen we pull it."

Titties: "Isn't there a computer around?"

Naruto: "Well, yeah, But I have no idea how to make it do anything"

Titties: "O... Okay, I'll guide you from here."

For the next hour or so. I told Naruto what to do. It wasn't easy, having to relay information from the inside of a pod without looking at the screen to have a neophyte work around a computer system I was not familiar with, but finally they got me out.

At first, I was so weak that Naruto had to help me walk to his sleeping bag. It actually took some effort to convince them but finally they left me alone in what appears to be their "room".

I laid down and thought that I would fall asleep, but no. I didn't. Guess that I have slept enough for a while.

 

And there, lost in an abandonned vault, surrunded by porn, with my cryo pod decorated with the cover of the one porn movie i did as a student that, I don't know how seemed to have morphed into a toothpaste ad in today's world, i thought. About that time gone, about my husband, shot or alive somewhere? About where could my baby be...

I now finally start to fell tired. I guess i'll try to sleep a little. Tomorrow... Tomorrow I'll try to learn a bit more about that vault, about Naruto and Rodolf, and about this new world I'll have to live in...
