About this blog

[TL;DR] I am reverse-engineering the player-only version of https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/142450?tab=description to expand the player-only function to more vanilla pieces. First thing I already added is boots, because I found this heels mod https://www.loverslab.com/files/file/30020-dw-armor-matching-high-heels-se/, and I am now looking into other pieces I like and want my own girl to have a unique version of.

As the original mod's permissions state that

I might be persuaded to share these edits.

I am posting this here for three reasons:

1. To gauge interest.

2. To allow people to try to tempt me with pieces they want to see player-only function for and I might like, assuming that there actually is interest in the first place.

3. To measure how much engagement I can get if I post one of these blog things. I think I picked a good topic for this.

[The long story] I am, sadly, returning to Skyrim. I've played LE for forever, uninstalled it sometime last year, expecting other modding scenes to replace it. BG3 hasn't because apparently we're not allowed to create new areas so what's even the sodding point. InZoi hasn't because apparently the thing is more difficult to work with than expected and a framework, while in active development and showing promise, hasn't been completed and made available for animators to work our magic. FO4 was a complete flop. Starfield and the Oblivion Remake, too.

So what's left for someone who wants a 3D sandbox RPG game that also has sex and limitless user-generated content? Yeah, Skyrim.

Now, one thing I liked about Skyrim LE was that there existed a mod to replace the player's armour model to be unique from NPCs. It wasn't the most reliable, and it wasn't very quick, but as long as I turned towards Todd and chanted "Hail Bethesda" the prerequisite number of times while doing a handstand and crossing my fingers, I could pretend that it worked well enough.

I can't seem to find an equivalent for AE, but after looking around, I found this mod that changes the armour model for the player. "Well!" I thought, "I can probably reverse-engineer this!"

And so here we sodding are: back to spending more hours modding Skyrim than playing it; the more things change, the more they stay the same, I guess.

If you've for whatever reason stuck around to read this, I suppose I should thank you for taking the time, you mad bastard. If you want to see the expanded player-only functionality, drop me a comment, yeah?

Shoes == Done

I haven't gotten any comments asking for this, so I assume nobody does. But, I've completed my "Add high heels to every single vanilla (base game + dlcs) armour & cloth model for the player only" project. I also added a few vanilla armours and clothes that weren't in the original player-only mod. Currently looking for help here to find models I'd want to do the rest for.
