About this blog

This is Sister Miriam: a starry-eyed novitiate from the Holy Order of the Lamb of Arkay the Merciful in Cyrodiil, with little life experience but a boundless appetite for adventure. She is well-trained in the healing arts, but a mediocre and inconstant priestess of Arkay at best.

This is Hasteinn, called "the Wolf": a veteran mercenary originally from Skyrim, he has traveled the breadth of Tamriel, selling his sword to whichever lord or merchant who could pay him. More devious than his brutish demeanor may initially suggest, he has no qualms about using trickster cunning in and out of combat to complement his prowess with sword and shield.

This is the story of Sister Miriam and Hasteinn the Wolf, together. It is not a happy tale.

Spoiler

This is a playthrough structured primarily around Devious Followers (Continued).

At its best, playing Skyrim with DFC is like slowly sinking into quicksand over the course of dozens of hours. You are constantly under financial pressure, and you're conscious of the follower's creeping dominion over you. But you can't stop it, and it feels (within the logic of the mod) like your fault. It's wonderful and exquisitely horrible at the same time and I wanted to see if I could capture this sensation in a bottle here.

But also, I just really enjoy writing about my Skyrim adventures. Stitching these together into a (hopefully) coherent story has been pretty rewarding in and of itself.

Expect this to be slowly-bubbling sexual tension rather than a full-on sex romp. Also, this is pretty much entirely dubcon (Devious Followers is basically "Dubious Consent: The Mod"); it's very likely to slide into outright non-consent at some point. Sexualized degradation, misogyny and humiliation are likely to become more common as the story progresses. Caveat lector, and all that.

If all that sounds alright to you, come on and stand with me by the gas light. Are my feet kind of sinking into the sand? Don't worry about it, it's fine. ~

There’s a bounty out for her, they explain.   There are not that many Redguard women in Whiterun. In fact, only one matches th

Hasteinn picks bounties from the bounty board or from Hulda, and they head out to one bandit hideout or the other. In spite of its wealth or because of it, Whiterun is absolutely infested with bandits.     Almo

Chapter 02: Bleak Falls Barrow

Sister Miriam’s journal 22-23 Last Seed 4E201 Chapter II: “Bleak Falls Barrow”   Miri wakes at the hour of the wolf, excited at the prospect of exploring an ancient Nord barrow. She’s somewhat surprised to find Hasteinn already awake and fully kitted, sitting in a chair propped up against the door.   “Just making sure you don’t run off and cheat me of my fee, like other adventurers.”   His naked distrust barely dents her good humor. He considers Miri an adventur

Chapter 01: Ends and Beginnings

In the deepdream, a girl doesn't remember who she is. For a moment she senses an infinite vista of possibility, but they soon collapse into clarity: Miriam from Colovia, in the snow. The death rattle of a fat man with dried wine on his lips and skin the pallor of death. A wolf in iron, circling.   Sister Miriam’s journal 21 Last Seed 4E201 Chapter I: “Ends and Beginnings”   Brother Nestor died on the morning of the third day, breathing his last under the furs beside the embe
