Ginnyfizz Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 I have been having fun playing Skyrim on my laptop with no problems. But my gaming beast of a desktop is back and yesterday I reinstalled Steam (with considerable problems along the way as Steam was acting up) and redownloaded Skyrim. I added body mods only and was able to launch the game with no problem. An ini was generated, no problem. I was able to hit save but...WOT NO SAVES in My Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Saves. Does anyone have any idea WTH is happening here? I have never had this happen before and am just wondering if it was all caused by Steam jacking around yesterday. I have deleted all local content and am reaquiring the files *gnash, grumble* System specs;- Windows 7 Home premium AMD FX8150 8 core @ 3.8Ghz Asus Crosshair V Formula Mobo ATI Radeon 6970 2GB 8GB Corsair XMS3 RAM Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB HDD Corsair HX1050W Professional PSU A lack of power in any department is not the issue, as you can see.
Ark of Truth Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Try verify your Steam game cache after reinstalling and then try saving again. If the file which does saving is broken then it won't save and just dump it from memory. If that fails please post your load order, including any body mods and tools you are using.
Ginnyfizz Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 I will certainly try that. The load order I started with - I always start with very much a minimum mod load after a new install and it certainly worked on the lappy, goes something like this;- Skyrim.esm Dawnguard.esm Update.esm High Res texture pack 1.esp High Res texture pack 2.esp Ethereal Elven Overhaul.esp Eyes of Beauty.esp Mesh and texture replacers only - e55 female body and Better Males mod SKSE SkyUI As I said, a very modest mod load to begin. Game launched very quickly whether from the Skyrim Launcher or the SKSE loader. Just wouldn't save.
Ark of Truth Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Does saving work on your laptop? The game was updated recently correct?
Ginnyfizz Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 Yes, saving was certainly working last time I played Skyrim on the laptop which was Monday night very late. And the lappy now has a substantial mod load on it, added after initial launch went well. I can't of course try it on the laptop while logged into Steam on desktop and downloading the game. Looking at the official forums it seems like there were a lot of issues with Steam yesterday. Corrupted download sounds a possibility, do you think?.
Ark of Truth Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 You can check on the laptop while downloading on desktop. I have done it. I would most likely say corrupted download, it doesn't make sense for saving to just stop.
sbire Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 you can verify that simply open console type "savegame test_001" close console restart skyrim try to load your test_001 savegame if it's possible, you've to check your skyrim.ini, where is setup your savegame folder. [General] SLocalSavePath= the full path isn't necessary..start with the first folder inside My Documents\Skyrim ... like "SAVE\ [if it isn't set, the default should be guilty] just a sample -> SLocalSavePath=Save\MegaChick you can set this by yourself also. simply add these line at the end of the [General] Section of the Skyrim.ini. maybe it works.
