RimSkyFlyBy Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 Hi! Never looked super deep into Skyrim mods before. Some basic questions. How difficult is it to replace body in a standalone follower mod with another? I came across this https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/6449 and consider it very impressive and accurate piece of work! ....When it comes to the face. But body is way, way off. Can I somehow change the bombshell version into something that is more petite and authentic? I'm using the VR version(/Special Edition of Skyrim)
Unmotivatedpride Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 If a follower mod comes with it's own meshes and textures it's usually easy enough to replace. Downloaded to see and the mod comes with folders named Emma_Watson where separate meshes and textures are stored. So you should be able to swap with whatever you want yes. Provided the replacements have the same name/are renamed to have the same name as the originals you can replace without creation kit etc.Edit: Though looking at it now, this area of the forum may not be the location you'd wanna post a thread for questions.
RimSkyFlyBy Posted April 27, 2018 Author Posted April 27, 2018 Thanks for the reply! Looking into this right now.. And yeah, I'm sorry if this ended up in wrong section. EDIT, Archiving my struggles for future generations! Figured I'd try to combine this https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/10017?tab=files with the Emma mod. Downloaded both manually, unzipped both to seperate folders. For starters, headed to \Data\textures\actors\character\female of the UNPetite mod and simply tried copying everything about body or hands to \Data\textures\actors\character\Emma_Watson\Body Turned the changed folder back into an archive and added with NMM. No luck! Strangely she has exactly the same body still. I wonder what went wrong. Edit II, Next, tried combining the mod with another standalone follower. Copied Body-related meshes and textures from https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/16512?tab=posts to Emma mod. Body refuses to change. It might have defaulted into some WICO/XP32 thing. oO This is where my very limited expertise and own ideas end. Maybe WICO(Immersive character overhaul) or XP32 overwrites or forces some default somehow?
Saraniamic Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 Usually you just have to drag and drop your desired textures and meshes into the follower folders with the same name, replace them and you're done. Exceptions may apply, but it worked for me.
RimSkyFlyBy Posted April 27, 2018 Author Posted April 27, 2018 Sadly it didn't work out for me. .. I'm sure I broke something, and game replaces broken things with default? I dunno.. If somebody could try combining the Emma mod with either I mentioned and see how it turns out, I'd be grateful.
RedPassenger Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 Send screen shots please. Also can you also list the names of the files you overwrote? What you're trying to do is super easy really I do it all the time, and you didn't break anything I am 100% sure. Also, use MO and not NMM check this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qxltdw8VXsI
RimSkyFlyBy Posted April 27, 2018 Author Posted April 27, 2018 Thanks for taking an interest RedPassenger, I'll post some screenshots and more coherent details your way once I'm back home tomorrow.
RimSkyFlyBy Posted April 27, 2018 Author Posted April 27, 2018 I replace following meshes: Femalebody_0.nif Femalebody_1.nif Femalefeet_1.nif Femalefeet_0.nif Femalehands_0.nif Femalehands_1.nif Later on I also threw skelton_female.hkx and skelton_female.nif of another, shorter standalone follower into the mesh folder for the sake of testing. In Texturefolder I replaced femalebody.dds femalebody_1.dds femalebody_1_msn.dds femalebody_1_s.dds femalebody_1_sl.dds femalebody_msn.dds femalebody_s.dds femalebody_sk.dds femalehands-_1.dds femalehands_1_msn.dds femalehands_1_s.dds femalehands_1_sk.dds After replacing all these I use Winrar to make it into an arcive again. I tried combining meshes and textures of a standalone follower that differs more drastically in terms of body hair, skin color etc. Turns out some thigns do change; ie Emma ended up being shaven and paler now. However, her height, boob size, body shape remain unchanged despite replacing all of the above. Could using ModOrganizer instead of NMM solve this? Can I switch using it despite having some 12 or so different mods up and running?
RedPassenger Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 Haha ok you are in a lot of confusions here and wrong presumptions too. Here is what you need to know: 1. Your follower does not use a separate skeleton since it has none in it originally. So just adding a skeleton won't do anything. You cant throw a pair of tiny pants to a dog and expect it to know to wear it. 2. If you want height boob size change you'd have to change the height and weight in the .esp file by editing it in for example, TESVedit like here: https://gyazo.com/c9bfd0362e2d93f143a4363855552ea5 3. If you want Emma to actually use a custom skeleton to make other body changes you'd have to learn how to do these: Making a follower in CreationKit Editing skeleton nodes in NifSkope Here is Emma with replaced meshes and textures taken from Willow Remember, only their "naked" bodies are replaced, if you make them wear sth with a different body obviously it'd seem like nothing has changed. AND YES CHANGE TO MO DONT EVER USE NMM EVER. NMM is so destructive it should never be recommended to ppl. Imagine a nuclear centre with no contingency safety infrastructures, yep, thats NMM. Imagine a fully controlled environment with a time machine installed, yep, thats MO. You have 12 mods installed, ppl have like over 300 mods here installed on average. So change now or regret it later. Emma Watson Follwer - SSE-6449-1-0.zip
RimSkyFlyBy Posted April 28, 2018 Author Posted April 28, 2018 Thanks a ton for all the trouble. I bet there is something wrong with my mod order. Or perhaps the Emma Watson mod itself is bit borked? Even when using the version you provided, nothing has changed.;o Significant difference between Willow and Emma, with latter being much taller and curvier. This applies both clothed and nude alike. I'd take a screenshot but they come off with utterly broken perspective due to VR.

Willow and Emma both use the same body. So what are you trying to achieve here anyways? Make Emma thinner and flatter?
RimSkyFlyBy Posted April 28, 2018 Author Posted April 28, 2018 oO How strange is that!! There is just something off in my end then. If we assume Willow is 165cm tall, I'm certain EW is like 180cm. There is a notable difference in their height and curves. And yeah, I'm after Emma that looks like the RL counterpart. Ie around 165cm tall, bit flatter. In Nexus, the mod author has spoken about some strange behaviour having to do with dressing/undressing her or whatnot. Maybe something is bit broken..I dunno. I managed to change things around in few different follower mods by extracting BSAs and whatnot, things worked out fine!! But this one..no luck.
RedPassenger Posted April 28, 2018 Posted April 28, 2018 No, nothing is wrong on your end. Just do this 1. open TESVedit, select Emma follower's esp. 2. go here: (mine is called Vivace but yours should be Emma or sth) 3. Click on it and scroll down the right side until you see this 4. Edit the height (1 is average) and weight (0-100) for less boobs. Ignore warnings, save with backups. 5.????? 6.profit
RimSkyFlyBy Posted April 29, 2018 Author Posted April 29, 2018 That did the trick!!! Thank you very much for all this! This thread prolly makes a pretty useful read for anyone taking first steps towards tweaking this stuff. I suppose my problem was all along the incorrect assumption textures and meshes would alter one's height and weight too.
