COM surrogate problems when i connect my Mobile phone to myPC

When i try to connect my Mobile phone (Huawei P10 lite) to my PC to transfer files to and from my phone COMsurrogate stops working and i can't open any files from my phone on my pc. not even files that originally came from my PC. What could cause this/how can i solve it?
