First what the hell is a kickstarter, and what the hell do I get out of it?

To make it simple, it's a bunch of people pooling together money for a game. Indie studios, studios who want to launch their own game but can't get VC's to give them the money for it(Obsidians Project Eternity for example), and so on. So, what happens? Well if it gets funded you get charged for the amount you pledge. If it doesn't get funded, nothing happens, and you don't get charged for it.

What the hell is it?

Project Eternity will take the central hero, memorable companions and the epic exploration of Baldur’s Gate, add in the fun, intense combat and dungeon diving of Icewind Dale, and tie it all together with the emotional writing and mature thematic exploration of Planescape: Torment.

 

Combat uses a tactical real-time with pause system - positioning your party and coordinating attacks and abilities is one of the keys to success.
