Stuttering Hard Drive

For quite some time now my mass drive has been extremely slow, mainly because the disk transfer rate is stuttering:

 

 

 

This is most common when im trying to download games from steam, where it also shows very concerning graphs:

 

 

I have absolutely no clue what could be the cause and I've posted this problem to many forums with no response,

so you guys are my last straw, otherwise I'll just buy a new one.

Have you tried defragmenting disk? Or to split the disk into two parts?

It is currently split into 3 partitions and I tried defragging the main one, but I wasn't able to finish because the estimated time was more than 3 months.

Try to delete programs, games, porn  what you don't need. Try another defrag program (windows has one). The length of defragmentation time depends on how disk is fragmented. A very fragmentated disk can cause your problems. When you last time defragmented the disk?

I personally do defragmentation every week ~30m (1 TB disk) You can try also Auslogics Disk Defrag (is free)

Took a bit longer than expected (23 hours), disk speed is back normal, big thanks to Katherine

Glad that helped. Just don't forget clean your disk and do defragmentation minimum 1 per month (better per week).
