VULCANIZER Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 Hi everyone, My Skyrim is slowed down because of this virus infestation called chromesearch. This hogged my computer resources tremendously and slowed It down raising temperatures to 60 sometimes 70 degrees Celsius. I managed to delete it, it seems and even the corrupted files but my Skyrim is still facing these issues which it was facing back then. 1) Delayed shockwave reaction when dragon lands nearby. My player takes up to 2 or more seconds to respond to the shockwave created by the dragon when landing. 2) Turning into a werewolf also isn't instantaneous and takes some time to initiate. 3) Undressing takes similarly long to(Either for sex or for breastfeeding via jugs). now here is my problem. I have a lot of mods on NMM , some from steam workshop and some I have directly pasted into the game files. so now that it seems my skyrim is corrupted and malfunctioning I am thinking of uninstalling and reinstalling it. How do I Keep all the mods that I Love while getting the game back to it's functional self. Keep in mind other games like witcher3 and Arkham Knight work just fine so problem is still with Skyrim. Thank you for replying.
VULCANIZER Posted March 17, 2018 Author Posted March 17, 2018 Furthermore my steam is also not functioning well. Whenever I try to open up the screenshots it crashes. This is because of the files that were deleted during the virus purge I guess... so what should I Do.. I have copied a few previous versions of steam in my d folder though... should I use them ??
Loller99 Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 I'd suggest a complete format, frankly, if the issues you are experiencing are not only skyrim's. That's for the best.

That's for the best. Do you mean a complete format of the my PC ? I don't think that is necessary as the issue is with steam in general (Only with the screenshots) and other steam games like Batman Arkham(also on steam ) are running pretty well, No problems encountered as is the case with Witcher 3 which is on GoG.. The problem seems to be with the much less demanding skyrim. Any other suggestions? Thanks for replying!!

Trying to fix a problem through unknown tools or tampered software (malwares) supposed to do so on unsafe sites often brings only additional problems. 2 hours ago, VULCANIZER said: but my Skyrim is still facing these issues which it was facing back then And this is not very surprising yet: 2 hours ago, VULCANIZER said: I have a lot of mods on NMM , some from steam workshop and some I have directly pasted into the game files This is not a recommended method for adding mods to your game. You should only go through your mod organizer and avoid Steam Workshop at best to have a stable modded game.

Make sure you make template befre downloading a mod so that you MM can quickly put everything back anything in it's place.

I sought the help of a professional. He installed K7(I Initially had Kaspersky) and did a complete scan removing all the malware. after that my high cpu usage and temperature problems were solved. Currently my game has issues with delayed response to actions. Things like I mentioned in my first post. This is not a recommended method for adding mods to your game. Unfortunately I started adding mods more than a year ago and didn't know about these things.

Fifoo Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 1 hour ago, VULCANIZER said: Hey Thanks! how can I do that? I've never performed such manipulations with mods coming from Steam Workshop. Here the basic method: NMM can ONLY access the Data folder of the Skyrim game, you must then imitate the Skyrim game Data folder structure. Download the mod from Steam Workshop. Keep an eye on all its mod files and folder structures - enventually see if the selection can be made by date stamps. Create a new folder on your desktop named what you want or with the name of the mod. Create a Data folder in it. This is the place where the .txt and .esm .esp must go - if the mod has such files, and only there. Place the modded files into your new Data folder in the appropriate directories, you must recreate them to identical from the original mod. Use 7z to compress your new datas and install them with NMM. Beware that this will not allow you to automaticaly update the mod inside NMM. You must then pass through the entire process again. NMM compatible w Steam Workshop mods? Can you mix/match Steam Workshop with Nexus Mod Manager?

NMM compatible w Steam Workshop mods? Can you mix/match Steam Workshop with Nexus Mod Manager? Well actually many of my mods are still in my downloads folder and I access using the add mod from file method in Nexus mods , so once I uninstall and reinstall skyrim do I have to tamper with my Nexus Mod Manager? Or is it just the mods I Directly copied and pasted to the game files and the ones on steam Workshop? Or will the NMM load all my old mods the way they were in the past?
VULCANIZER Posted March 18, 2018 Author Posted March 18, 2018 Is it possible that merely my saved games are corrupted? because my older saves are working fine. However when I got those older saves to a particular point they started lagging again. So is it possible that if I create a new Character now I wouldn't experience any issues in the future?

Before you want to reinstall Skyrim, it would be good to keep your original compressed mods that are in the download directory and put them in a backup directory, this will save you from having to download them again. Check if they are up to date. And if necessary correct the structure of the mods that you added via the Steam Workshop for example as explained before. Why? Because of this: Spoiler There are no explicit issues.... but a few do exist. The main one is that the Workshop uses the Skyrim Launcher to download, install, and update mods. While mostly nothing more than a pain in the neck, it does fiddle with some of the graphics settings whenever you bring up the launcher and turn quite a few mods on or off. In my case, that usually translates into the following: turning the FXAA injector back on, turning off anisotropic filtering (doesn't do much for me, but eats at performance), and going through my entire (and usually half-off) mod list manually. At least you only have to do this when adding/updating mods from the Workshop, and can work out of the (generally) much more reliable/effective/efficient NMM. Another issue is that the Workshop auto-updates mods... and unless I'm mistaken, auto-uninstalls them if the mod author decides to delete his or her mod from the Workshop. While generally not an issue, it does mean you don't quite have the control granted by the NMM. Nothing one can't work around, and perfectly possible to do.... just a bit annoying at times. -Quote by pyro_bunta Regarding the installation and hierarchy of mods in NMM, you can make your task easier by naming them according to their current loading order present in the mod manager, especially if you do not have any conflicting errors and/or problems, for example: 01_ ( the first mod activated in NMM), 02_ (the second mod activated), etc ... This is a method that can be applied if you have a long list of mods, so you activate them in their optimal order. If not, make a list in .txt format that you will consult later. It's up to you to see what's best for you.Especially be careful that there is nothing left of your previous mod installs with NMM as these leftovers can/will cause problems when you reinstall the game and then try to play it. Your OS must be set to show hidden files and folders. And make a backup of all your .ini files from game, this could be handy. VULCANIZER Posted March 18, 2018 Author Posted March 18, 2018 Hey Thanks for replying it seems the malfunctioning is due to the corrupt saves. I have been doing some tests on my old saves it seems well so far let me check some more to see if all is in order. If not I will have to do a clean reinstall. Thanks Again!

Doing a new Character save is the best to do when you've modified something in your load order or simply removed and/or updated some mods that aren't user friendly. 56 minutes ago, VULCANIZER said: Hey Thanks for replying it seems the malfunctioning is due to the corrupt saves. Indeed, it would be time consuming to do a clean reinstall, if you aren't in need to do so, test your old saves and see, otherwise do as stated above. Happy gaming to you!
