Hi pornohra, Nanashi (by FlowerSimsFactory later renamed himself to BrokenSims) is just a special rig you can use to work with in Blender to make animations. It's based on the rig of Kijiko, but it has some alterations. And yes it helps to smooth up things a bit and is in a way easier to work with than the rig that comes with S4S. I know there are other rigs and some people can make their own alteratons according to their wishes. (helas, I'm not one of them) You still have to know your way around in Blender.
