CTD when approaching dead dragon.

Did some things early game then started the main quest. Killed the first dragon, but when I approached it to loot it, the game CTDs even before the dragon soul absorption. Not sure what could be the cause. The only mod in my load order that messes with dragons specifically is the dragon stalking fix, but when I disabled that, the issue still happened.

 

edit: upon further investigation, I CAN absorb the dragon soul if i stay away long enough, but simply approaching it to loot just makes it ctd. So basically, it's a loot issue...?
