Vampirism and Followers

I'm having a long-standing issue where, upon turning a follower into a vampire (either via ATF or Better Vampires transform spell) the follower in question's face turns into the ugly vanilla vamp face with dark-grey skin and purple hair (as if the texture is missing). I use the Bijin series of follower improvements, and according to the main page it should be completely compatible with vampire turning. I haven't tested to see if this happens with turning a non-beast follower into a werewolf (as I don't have a WW character), but vampires are definitely broken and I don't know how to fix it.

If anyone can give me any insight as to what the conflict could be and how to resolve it, I would very much appreciate it. Screenshots of the issue are attached.

Figured it out. ATF vampirism changes the race of the character, which messes up the appearance. Better Vampires does this as well, but if you select "eyes only" under the transformation options you retain the functionality without screwing up your custom appearance. Hopefully this will help someone else down the line.
