faders111 Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 i was wondering, if someone would maybe construct the Fabled Mead hall: Heorot? these are just some of the lines taken from Seamus Heaney's translation of parts of Beowulf. -------------------------------------- "a great mead-hall/meant to be a wonder of the world forever" 69 "the hall of halls" 78 "The hall towered,/its gables wide and high" 82 "the lofty house" 116 "the greatest house/in the world" 145 "Next the king ordered eight horses with gold bridles to be brought through the yard into the hall." 1034 "The hall towered, gold-shingled and gabled" 1799 It had steep gables and eaves: "The hall towered,/its gables wide and high" 82 "standing on the steps, under the steep eaves" 925 "The hall towered, gold-shingled and gabled" 1799 It was very sturdy: "it was handsomely structured, a study frame/braced with the best of blacksmith's work/inside and out." 772 "But iron-braced as the inside of it had been" 996 It had rafters: "in the raftered hall" 1016 It had wooden floors: "wooden floor-boards" 1317 It had lots of gold and fine decorations: "orders for work to adorn that wallstead" 75 "the glittering hall" 167 "mead-benches were smashed/and sprung off the floor, gold fittings and all." 775 "Gold thread shone/in the wall-hangings, woven scenes/that attracted and held the eye's attention." 993 It had a throne for the king, on a platform: "It would be his throneroom" 71 "approached the platform where the other sat" 1815 -------------------------------- i would be very pleased to have such a place to Drink my mead with my companions! i guess it would look sorta like this, only a whole lot bigger maybe?
