Scare Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 Hey guys. I've massively upgraded my pc recently and thus I decided to see how far I could push skyrim before it becomes completely unplayable. While learning more about the engine and modding along the way ofcourse^^. So far i've installed what seems to me as an insane amount of mods with very few issues. https://modwat.ch/u/scare/plugins I do however have 2 issues. One is a graphic glitch that happens when the game has ran for a while. I think It might be a memory issue perhaps but I have no idea how to fix it. My screen basically gets a ton of red stripes all over the place going crazy as if there is a texture/hdt glitch. However it persists in menu's + load game until I restart skyrim (i'll send pics later). A hunch is telling me I should perhaps reduce memory allowed in enblocal. I've followed the STEP guide and my memory setup should be fine, however other sites mention limiting your memory to your VRAM is a good idea. Thoughts on that? Another issue is male neck seams which don't seem to go away no matter what I do, even when I disable ALL mods (through mod organizer, my data folder is clean) including my ENB. I'll send a pic on that one later as well. Besides those issues i'd love it if anyone is interested in going through my ini files/load order to notice any potential conflicts. Or maybe even recommend some of your favorite mods to add since i'm still going quite stable between 40-60 fps on 1440p. Any fps streamlining tips would be great as well though :D.

Either VRAM is going out slowly - which I dare to hope to be your case, either you have an unstable GPU OC (if you have any) or the card may be overheating. A possible issue is that the PSU is going out on you. It would be good to check your temps while gaming with MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision X, check the GPU itself is it dusty. Better to be wise in this case. 1 hour ago, Scare said: A hunch is telling me I should perhaps reduce memory allowed in enblocal. I've had one day the opportunity to see this about quality settings on the LL forum threads, but I do not remember in which one it was: Spoiler And it helped me a lot. If you knew with what material I'm running my modded Skyrim with 128 active plugins, you would blush with astonishment compared to the current hardware used by the majority of modders. It must be said that my OS and Rig are optimized to the maximum of their capacity (unnecessary Windows 7 Pro services disabled to free up a maximum amount of RAM, CPU OCed to 27,5%, an OCed GPU, all that in air-cooling) and my games are rock-stable with High quality settings and Optimised High Res Textures, but my Rig is not the purpose of the topic. I've took a look last week on this guide which seemed to me very interesting to read. I have not yet had the opportunity to go deeper into it though: ENB 101 – Under the wrapper. That's all I'm thinking of for the moment. I'm sorry, I did not sleep at night and fatigue is felt. But I will not fail to give you other tips if they come to mind afterwards.
Scare Posted February 5, 2018 Author Posted February 5, 2018 Thanks a lot :D. I'll look at that guide for sure. For now here are some pics of my issue. As well as another issue. Apparently Hajvarr iron hands is invisible lol. I'm sure tes5edit will shed some light on that one xD

I do have an oc on it. which has been super stable so far in benchmarks and other games. I guess I could try playing for a bit without it.

That's good, your GC is not overheating that much. 59 minutes ago, Scare said: I do have an oc on it. which has been super stable so far in benchmarks and other games. I guess I could try playing for a bit without it. I've had similar problems with artifacts in the past, in the form of white triangles and stripes, with an (a bit too much) overclocked graphics card. She ended her race in the trash ... It would actually be good, as you say, to see if your problem comes from there. Step down a few small MHz at your GPU, Memory and Shader clock speed. Seems to be that Skyrim don't like too much OCed GC, but cons, loves an overclocked CPU. I've seen that statement years back. Perhaps on the Guru3D.com forum? Or was it on TechPowerUp?
Scare Posted February 5, 2018 Author Posted February 5, 2018 I agree with you on the cpu. I've had a gtx 1080 for a while. But ran on an old 2500k cpu without the cooling to overclock. i've got an overclocked 8700k now and it's insane how much smoother everything runs. I'm pretty confident my gpu's oc is fine. But for skyrim I probably don't even need it so i'm taking it off alltogether just to see if the problem persists. The invisible bandit problem should be taking care of too hopefully as I substituted Obis for revenge of the enemies (didn't like the bandits obis added much anyway).
Scare Posted February 13, 2018 Author Posted February 13, 2018 Update: Skyrim is running like a dream now :D. Haven't had much time to game lately but removing my overclock on my gpu solved it. I guess it's a bad overclock after all, even though it passed all benchmarks. Thanks for the help^^.
