Custom race base + custom body?

I'm planning on trying my hand at skyrim modding for real, and for test purposes, I'd like to ask if there is a custom race mod that servers as example on how to use a custom body model only for it.

 

I got two races that are like that, Viera [which seems like a CBBE variant] and Vaalsark [which uses vanilla, overriding any body mod I might have]

 

I want this for a few motives, but above all, I want this as a testing ground for custom armor for UNP body.

 

 

So, if anyone know of a "template" for custom race with custom body, or could mash up quickly one for me [i still don't know a thing about modding, specially when it comes down to scripting stuff] I'd be really thankful.

well most of the custom races has it's own body. u can try Ashen race Since Seren decided to add race specific files so it wouldnt be same as other races.

 

just create texture sets-hands,body,head. then Arma(armor addon) naked female/male body parts(head,hands,body,feets) then Armor nakedbody and add reference's of those armor addons. u can copy default race texture sets/aarmor addons/armor and reconfigure as new form. also in ur race tab make sure it uses ur nakedfemal/male.

 

there's no need for templates. just look on default races forms in ck.

No, seriously, I'm overly confused with the CK, I -NEVER- did anything related to modding, [be it skyrim, oblivion or anything bethesda or another game for that matter] so the program is hardly an open book to me.

 

Besides, I'm not only talking about the models, I'm talking mostly about plugins, scripts, requirements to make a working race. A step-by-step is REALLY useful for first-timers.

 

[yeah, I'm more on the artistic side, programming of all kinds is one huge headache]

I just did what jancicc said. It was a lot easier customizing a pre-existing custom race than make one from scratch.

 

visit the links which Dedder posted. they are quite helpful. better edit vanilla race and create every form u changed as new form since creating something from scratch will require u to link quite a lot of things to ur race - animations, blood, textures, add all tints from a new. make new and so on. Expired's mod shows u how to add basic scripts for race so it works with vampires & werewolf, also other quests.

I was following Expired's guide, but i got an error when compiling the script with the extra code provided in the PDF, I got an error and couldn't compile the script.

 

I'm sure I did things exactly like it was asked, unless keyword order or adding "update.esm" as a master file too causes a problem... using update 1.7

added proxy race to ur race? also in script did u add ur race data in it to desired proxy race?

If you mean the "ActorProxyImperial" part, then yeah.

And if you mean the addition of my race data ["HeadPartsMyMod" and "HeadPartsMyModVampire"] replacing the "none" in the script, yes again.

hmm. u have both the required things what's written in pdf?Racial Compatibility and GenericRaceController?

Alright' date=' I think I forgot to install this ONE script... But since I already had RaceCompatibility.esm, that probably means other races are using this same mod, right?

Either way, before trying this, I DID update racecompatibility.esm and the scripts that came with it to the lastest one available in the mod's page. I'll try to install the genericracecontroller script and try to continue from where I stopped...

 

edit: It worked. I already had the file, but I placed the new one in place... [and it was accusing the one I had was NEWER AND BIGGER']. Strange~

 

edit2: The race is appearing, but only the head. Body, feet and hands seem fully invisible @_@

I didn't change anything the tutorial didn't say. I thought it would copy the body information too, like the CK tutorial did.

it's weird that it didnt copy body data. tried adding ur own skin and bodyparts?

I'd actually LIKE to, but I have no idea how: There isn't any area in there pointing to nif files directly... So, yeah, I didn't modify -or- add anything. :(

Load CK, go to Miscellaneous then texture sets. find skinhandfemale, skinheadfemale, skinbodyfemale, change the path to ur textures and rename, when asking about creating new form - accept. then go to Items and press ArmorAddon. look for nakedhands, nakedfeet, nakedbody/torso. change the ID to urs, change race to urs, change Nif paths to urs, change Skin texture to urs which u created. create new form when saving. then go to Items and Armor. look for Skinnaked. Change ID, Race. under world model's tab will be a tab with "models" which will contain nakedfeet/hands/torso - delete and add ur's(the ones which u created in armoraddon) save again as new form, then go to ur race in Character -> Race and go to Body data. change Body part Data to ur body which u created in Armor tab. change Skin to ur skin. u can change skeleton there too if u wish. do this for both genders or one, u choose.

 

With heads is different and quite long to write too -_-

Hmm, I only have "skinhandfemale_1", "SkinBodyFemale_1", and I found "SkinHeadFemaleImperial"... But I guess it doesn't matter much, since I'll be changing them, right?

 

I have to thank you for your help, but yeah, I'm sure I'm taking a lot of your time away. This should seriously be written up somewhere~
