KristalKlear Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 As of late, my Skyrim game hasn't been really starting and it's annoyingly frustrating, especially since it isn't the only issue I'm having, however it is the one that's stopping me from playing the game completely. I start up SKSE through MO, and the black text box for the application starts to show up, as per usual. After a few seconds though, it just fails to launch Skyrim at all, and it unlocks MO, leaving me confused. The last program that shows up running always is enbhost.exe, but when the game does work miraculously, my ENB works just fine. Am I doing something wrong? I've cleaned most of the files, run all programs in admin mode, have my mods in the right load order, and have done the classic 'on and off' and yet it hasn't been fixing it. scarebear2403 Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Older enbs can be a bit wonky with the latest binaries. Newer versions add features that old enbs don't support. Easy to test, use an enb scrubbing tool (or delete manually if you know what to delete), and grab the newest binaries and install enboost and see if it crashes. If its all good you might want to switch enbs or try to find older binaries that work with the one you are using. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/73618/? 0.303 or newer binaries needed and install this. Easy.

Easy. First I used an ENB scrubbing tool like you said, deleting all the files and ENB stuff in my Skyrim folder. I then installed the latest binaries for ENB before installing the ENBoost ini file as well. Same result, unfortunately. Also, SKSE version is 1.7.3, I accidentally gave you the Skyrim version. As for @avior, I tried disabling the main ESP files and about 90% of my mods were missing masters. I did try the BETHini tool though, and nothing. 1.7.3 1
Lodakai Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 You can try using crash fixes and see if it detects an error in your setup, the SKSE preloader they recommend may help as well too.. read the front page for setting that up. http://www.loverslab.com/files/file/2551-crash-fixes/ Oldrim also has a poor multi-threaded loading sequence that can cause a failure to load a game (I am unsure about the actual launching sequence though). You can use Load Game CTD fix to limit the loading sequence to one thread and this may alleviate the issue (maybe). https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/85443/? See if any of those help you out.
KristalKlear Posted November 5, 2017 Author Posted November 5, 2017 Okay, so after some testing, I finally isolated the problem; overlays or 'crapware' was interfering with Skyrim. I had both Discord Overlay and Overwolf running, and turning off both made it run flawlessly. Furthermore, you guys even helped me boost my FPS a lot, so thanks for the help! CLOSED
