my sims game can run the march version of ww, but not the latest version... why?

i just updated the ww to the october 14th version, ran my game, and the ww did not work at all. tried deleting a bunch of mods to see if it conflicted with ww, nope. then my last option was to try the march version because that was the one i used before updating it, and it worked...! why is that? how can i get it to work so that I can get all the updates? its good that it works, but i want the 6 months worth of updates, etc. any advice / anything i can do to fix this?
