Need a hand with some CTD

Hi to all the comunity of loverslab.Im new posting here and this is the first one and sadly i need a hand with the popular ctd of skyrim.I stopped playing skyrim like 40 days ago because i got bored of playing.All was playing well, sporadic ctd, no lag.When Dawnguard arrived to the pc version of skyrim i decided to play again.But when i patched to the last version and installed dawnguard, the ctd come out very soon along with freezes.Then i uninstalled all the skyrim to make a fresh install (erased all, including folder remaining after uninstall.Well, with the new skyrim i installed all again and some new ones (improvements to dawnguard mostly) and started a new game, but the ctd doesnt go away.I cannot play an hour without ctd.I tryied a lo of things.I use the texture optimizer for compress textures, wrye bash to make the patch, boss for the load list, the configurator to edit the settings, but that is not enough.I made some other things like:

-Disable the v-sync

-Disable the Ansiotropic filtering from the launcher and the fxaa.

-I use the gamebooster for run skyrim

-Started the windows with all disabled (antivirus, background programs, etc)

 

Also i have enabled the papyrus log to check the last report before the ctd but is a little hard to understand all.Here is the last report:

The Lunari esp was in the end but i put it in upper to see if i can solve anything but nothing has happened.I tested the game using a lunari char and a vanilla char, but is the same.If anyone can give me a hand, a hint, something i will apreciate that.In my opinion, this site is better for ask for help than the nexus forums, so thanks anyway :).

This game CTD randomly anyway even without mods installed. Its a common issue with the game which the developer needs to fix after it was introduced in the 1.6 patch.

 

Did you try just reinstalling the game with just DawnGuard and no mods installed at all? Your computer might not be able to handle all of your mods.

 

- Are you using a desktop or laptop?

- Amount of RAM?

- GPU Model?

- CPU?

Im using a desktop pc with windows 7 with this:

 

-4gb of ram ddr2

-Amd Athlon 240 Dual core 2.9ghz

-Geforce 9500gt

 

Is a old machine but i dont think its problem of hardware.I have played games more "heavy" with no problems, of course i cannot play at ultra settings.Also i have fallout new vegas with a ton of mods and retextures and with the wrye bash and the fnvedit i solved the 95% of the crashes causing the +1 hour playing without a crash or something.This new patch is carrying some fixes but a lot of problems at least for me.

 

PD: Forgot to say but im using the latest skse and all the mods are up to date

I would say its just Skyrim being Skyrim. If it was a load order issue you would CTD almost right away. If you play the game on Lowest you might get some more time out of it.

 

Try turning off all your mods and see what happens, if it doesn't crash then you have a mod issue somewhere.

 

Define more "heavy".

yeah when dawngaurd it never loaded and always ctd on me, after much looking around i found that the strings werent even there, perhaps that could be your issue

but; after a check at the papyrous0.log from you. the whole amount of warnings and errors aren't responsable to the CTDs.

 

do you use custom textures? you have 4GB RAM at your whole system, skyrim can't use all of them, because your OS is blocking 1.5GB of them by native behavior (WinXP 32bit ~1GB; Win7 32/64bit ~1.5GB).

you can try time by time the "pcb" command ("purge cell buffer") the free space for the new cell. also try to reduce the amount of custom textures you use atm.

 

test your stability without

 

getSnowyV3.esp (in the case, these mod have something to do with snow textures and more falling snow or mor detailed snow)

 

Improved Combat Sounds v2.1.esp (in the case, these mod are adding new sounds)

 

ColorfulLightsNoShadows.esp (sounds like more performance at animated lights)

 

WATER.esp (high and medium watertextures needs much of performance (RAM), try to play with default water)

WATER - Get Wet.esp (needs extra performance for animated water at the whole body)

 

 

disable or reduce the quality of shadows

disable or reduce the reflecting objects at the water surface

disable or reduce the line of sight and the distance of objects become visible

I have the game with a lot of things on low settings, shadows on the lowest quality and the game is running in 1280x720

 

Ark of truth:Yes only the skyrim alone has crashes (when the game came out last november my vanilla game crashes a few times with no mods).

Heavy games for me is something like crysis, gta IV.Also i have played Mass effect saga and dead space I and II with a good quality.

 

Mogie56: I will try that, specially disabling the alternate start mod, but in the description of the mod says "works well with dawnguard", but maybe is not all truth, or is conflicting with another one.

alternate start mod - Live Another Life works fine with Dawnguard as I am using it.

 

I would say if it just does in Vanilla then I am afraid you will have to wait for Beth to fix it. Do you get freezes every now and then?

Sbire: I dont use hd textures because yes, surelly my machine will be unable to handle it and it will lag a bit.The only extra textures in the game are the ones with the new armors mod, and they are all optimized with the Skyrim mod textures optimizer (i have both the Smto and the textures optimizer).

 

Ark of truth: Before the uninstalling of the monster mod the game was freezing in the fights, sometimes after the first 3-4 hits.But now the first combats are running well but the ctd and freezes happens when im walking in the wilds.

 

PD: I dont know if this can help, but in the dungeons the game runs very well, zero crashes and freezes.

 

Edit: I have readed in a forum (i cannot remember which one), of the dawnguard crashes and freezes.The guy recomend unpack the dawnguard bsa and throw all in the data folder, then delete the bsa file.Anyone has tested that?.Im considering to test that too to see if i can solve something

if you have a second monitor you can have a check with some diagnose-tools like aida64 to see what are happen at the moment of ctd.

 

dates like temperature, ram using, cpu performance....

 

you can do this at background, also and check them right after the ctd.

Coming back to the game, i disabled all the esp's and esm and only leaved checked this ones:

-Skyrim.esm

-Update.esm

-dawnguard.esm

-Race compatibility.esm

-Lunari Race.esp

 

I started again with a new save and played free of ctd and freezes the last 85 minutes, but i saw some weird things like a Ralof with 2 hairs and violet glowing snow, but that happened only one time (in the first dungeon and in the dungeon where the golden claw can be found.So is a mod the cause of ctd right?.guess i will have to test the mod part by part and try to find the guilty one.If i have something new to say i will come back...

No, it most likely helped the CTD come along a lot faster then won't in normally would of done. I know people who are only running Vanilla and still get random CTD.

Well, im back to report the results of my skyrim.Right now im level 17 with +11 hours of gameplay and i only had 2 ctd and 5 freezes, 3 of them around Riften going to start the Dawnguard expansion.Obviously, i disabled some mods, like UFO (i prefer to go alone in the wilds :D), the companions mod (Girls of skyrim), 3-4 armors mods and the mod live another life.Also i removed the hideout mod and i downloaded another one (another house mod).One of the mods i had enabled was bugged (revamped vampire lord), but the author has uploaded an updated one with various fixes, so that mod is no problem anymore.So thanks to all for the support here and i will try to be more active around here and try to assist another members in the ways i can.
