Mod's spell appearing in player spell list but cannot be equipped

The spell in question is the NPC selector spell from Puppeteer Master (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/10870/?). I think that the mod is loaded correctly because I can use the animations on the player, but the NPC selector spell just straight up isn't working. I can't equip it for use (as in, the character just equips fists and it looks like the spell isn't classified as anything, no mana, no school or anything), and I can't find a reason why the spell would be bugged out in that manner. Has anyone run into this before?
