I read that appachii can cause the crash is there any truth to this? this is pissing me off something fierce. moreso because skyrims interface is utter shit.
FastestDogInTheDistrict Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Character creation / showracemenu has been on a hair-trigger for crashes for many people since the game's release. There are a number of things you can do to alleviate this. Here's what I wrote in another thread dealing with basically the same thing. Note that these will not eliminate character creation crashes entirely, but they may help somewhat... "The guy who made the "Hair Packs of Oblivion" mod, for example, recommends using "Textures Optimizer" to crunch down hair textures to something more manageable. I can definitely recommend it! Also - if you're using any "Presets" mods, I have found it is helpful to put these at the TOP of your .esp load order (no, I have no idea why - it just works). If it's STILL giving you trouble, try *TEMPORARILY* switching to LOW settings, in the smallest 4:3 windowed mode you can get, to switch the slider across from Male to Female. Hit "R", name, save, quit, re-set to whatever setting you were using before, open the game again & play. You can use "showracemenu" to play with the other sliders later once you get into Helgen keep. I do this on my laptop to start a new game. It can still take a couple of tries, but it does work."

Never had this issue, but I personally have more serious laptop overheating issue whenever I use my nvidia geforce card which activates all 8 cores and I freeze every single time it goes past 160 degrees farenheit and it loops the last sound played. As for you, you should disable all mods and see if that's causing the issue or delete all enb's although enb's shouldn't really affect you unless your gfx card is incompatible with it, which is also unlikely.

Its most likely a load order or mod issue but considering you have not provided a load order we cannot help you in anyway. polluxval Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 there is fix, heres the link: http://www.mediafire.com/?3ahswkq1v99mfd9 i dont remember whos the author. with this, ull have female char instead of male char when creating a new character, so you dont need to swap and ull avoid crash. ------------- also, apachii fixed the ctds on his/her last version. the crash its supposly related to a twitching the character does when u change gender. no other solution found once you got it. hope the file helps.
