caperpp Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 I have no idea, it gets blocky but less blurry up close, and it only happens sometimes. It only happens with the cbbe body too.
FastestDogInTheDistrict Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 That's not actually shadows - it's textures having a heart-attack. Move the camera further away from the character model, and you will likely see the whole body skin (possibly minus the hands) from the neck down being blacked out. You may also observe this happening to your follower. I have occasionally experienced this as well over the past few months - usually when Skyrim has not successfully Steam-synced (which I have finally disabled out of sheer frustration with its recent and now apparently continuing refusal to *stop* re-applying saves deleted via the in-game menus - a step which previously worked just fine), but I cannot be 100% sure of the cause. I have also noticed that it *may* - *MAY* - be possible that, whatever the cause of the problem, it can embed itself in saves. It also seems to occur more frequently in autosaves, although I cannot be sure if there is a link (again, because I do not know the root cause of the problem). Simply exiting the game and returning repeatedly to the last save does not seem to work to fix the problem when I try it. I have successfully removed the problem by alt-tabbing out & force-closing Skyrim, manually junking the last several saves, and returning to an EARLIER save point when I re-open the game. I have also noticed that the problem does appear to happen less frequently after properly using "Textures Optimizer", but I cannot be 100% certain that this apparent correlation isn't just placebo (since Textures Optimizer is an excellent tool to use in any case though, I would still recommend it). Again - I do not know the root cause of it. From my own experience, I can only advise the above, and to save OFTEN, so that if it DOES happen, at least you're not losing too much progress. Sorry I can't be more helpful...
