Thinking of Trying to Create Mods/Animations

Recommended Posts

To all of the awesome modders and animators that are here!

I've been thinking about trying my hand at creating mods and/or animations. The thing is, I've never really tried anything like it before. How difficult are they to create? Which programs should I be using?

Any information, links, etc. are most appreciated! :)

I've created animations, and I stopped at one point.

For creating animations, you need to download Blender. To create them, it isn't THAT hard. It becomes harder and harder the higher you aim in quality :)

You'll then need to code them in-game, which is very confusing the first times, but then it comes natural.

You can follow the tutorial linked in the WickedWhims mod thread (the opening post), and the one in my signature, made by me.

I recently started on modding and doing my own project right now (without animations) had some really talented and helpfull animators provide the animations for me (You know who you are you sexy people! ) and other than that, well the modding it self is relatively time consuming when first diving into it, but if you have common sense, a bit of coding knowledge and know how to read code at least etc. Then I would say its not a big issue. :)

Since when it comes to animations, then yeah... I would rather focus on coding and use "place holder default animations" :) and then later swap em out if needed be :P Since coding on its own is rather consuming, at least when you are starting out :)

You can do whatever you set your mind to right? ;)

I'll be beginning a programming certificate program in a few weeks so I should begin to gain the knowledge. I have no coding experience at all but I'm really looking forward to learning it. Thanks for the suggestions! :)
