The infamous brownface bug

Okay I've seen other topic on this damn thing but I don't think I've seen it solved once, and I'm really at my wit's end trying to solve this. Tried the goofy CTRL F4 stuff, I tried fixing some load orders, and when ever I go looking for more solutions to it; usually its just big essays worth of steps that end up not even working.

 

I know how I am coming off right now but I'm sorry, I just really need this crap fixed.

Facetints are in Skyrim\Data\Textures\Actors\Character\FacegenData\Facetint\skyrim.esm (or other folder for custom NPCs).

 

Look up the facetint according to the Ref Number of NPC (found on Skyrim wiki). If custom NPC, then use MFG Console mod to help identify Ref ID in-game. Replace and experiment with facetint .dds files as you wish.

If you need a more elaborate explanation, then let me know. Otherwise, most gray face bugs can be solved by switching out the facetints for a brighter/lighter one that someone else in the facetint folder already has. Open the .dds files with GIMP. Edit them with GIMP also if necessary. The sky's the limit.
