[Unity] Five Days - V0.43

The story:

The player will follow the story of Marcy, a young woman that has to work in her mother's place for a week at a hotel (hence the name), every day she has to do the chores and work around some of the situations the guests will throw at her, taking the player's decisions into account. Expect different outfits, reactions from changes, and a "realistic" story, not some cheap porn where the player will suck the delivery guy because she doesn't have money, but as this is still a porn game, there will be porn.
The game will have at least 3 main endings, one pure route, one deviant route, and one in between, and will have some variations like a bad ending, and taking into account the decisions you took during the game play.
 

Technical details:

The game is being developed with Unity3D a free engine that gives the dev utmost freedom when creating content, with the art being made with Daz, alongside 3DS Max and a bit of Gimp, bear in mind that I'm no artist and this is the process that takes more of my time.

Is this a rendered visual novel, or interactive 3D mesh? Also, DAZ has copyright restrictions for any use beyond personal use. I've seen a few game authors have to go back and rip out their characters, to replace them with Zbrush sculpted ones because of legal issues with DAZ. Anyways, keep up the good work! I can't wait to see what you create. :)

It's rendered, I plan on transitioning to 3D mesh on the next game, but for this one there are only renders. And I know of Daz limits but I'm changing a lot of things, I'm using 3Ds Max too so they are not "stock", and thanks for the praise :D

I do understand the needs for a porn game in times but Im slowly starting to like the porn to be additive to the game rather then the main end goal.   It would be nice if there was a route in VN to where you dont get to the porn scene but rather an interesting ending.  I think that will separate itself from the rest.   Because teaching player that you will not always get sex is never a bad thing.  

 

But this is just me when it comes to games even if it rated adult-like game.

I can understand the frustration that comes when sex is just a cheap excuse for a game to develop, and as my game will be short I don't think I'll have enough time or dialogue to flesh out so many endings, but I do like to have alternate ones, at least a pure, a lewd and something in between.

If you have suggestions for where could I put content like it please speak your mind, if it's something I can do why not flesh out?

a couple of issue ive seen.   is that when im moving left or right the character seem to be buzzing back n forth.   Another issue is...this may be unity limit but why is there so much space between object and player.   the reason to why im asking about this is because the fact is that when you have so much space btween object it destroy any realism and perspective you had with the objects.  And it seem like the decor are too big compare to the player. 

 

This may just be a z-order issue and the fact that your hit box for the player is too big.  Also the rooms teleports.  If you can when we approach a door label it such as Upstair ? and confirm to go up there and the door too.  And there too much jumping around when i do that teleport on door.   I can see how you attempted to sort out the z-order cuz by the plants in the corner.   

 

Also the option are too limited for it to be freedom in VN. Another suggestion I have here is that when we go up to a character.  Let us have conversation to learn about the characters and if we want to do the work we can go along with that route.   Something like option Talk, ask for order, or leave.   But give each character a reputation and a journal that we can read when we learn about each quirky characters.  Also you might want to try to pair up the character vs scene.   One example is one of the dude is wearing a white underwear in conversation but in the travel mode hes wearing blue pant.  

 

Im sure you have more to think about.  But the first, id fix on is the zorder and reduce space between object and character.

This is the most complete review I've got so far, so let me go through all your points.

 

1 - why is there so much space between object and player? And it seem like the decor are too big compare to the player.

That was not unity, it was me, I've let that space to prevent clipping on the sprites, but I guess I can fine tune that for the next version, as you were the first to report this problem I haven't given much thought. And the decor was something I found over the net, I can see if I can find better sprites, or at least scale them correctly.

 

2 -  If you can when we approach a door label it such as Upstair ?

It's indeed a great suggestion, It never occurred to me to label them! Will do for the next update.

 

3 - Your last paragraph.

That is a lot of work to do, I know it could make the game a lot better, as you could talk, or get the daily quest, meaning that we could get to know the characters more, but right now I'm a single dev with not much free time, so to keep the scope smaller I couldn't do that, it would more than double the amount of renders and dialogues available. But it's a nice suggestion, and for another game I'll sure make that possible. As for the sprites and render fidelity that is kind of hard to keep track, but I'll redo the renders for Mr Jones because of another problem, so I can fix at least his problem :D

 

And by the way, thanks a lot for the amazing review and pointing out a lot of things that could be done better, it's people like you that make me want to keep developing and making a greater game everyday.

looks like a very interesting concept

when you say it's a rendered game , can we expect an animated experience (even if we can't control it) or just static images?

also , can we expect sound to accompany the game (at least when more sexual content is concerned)?

 

will keep my eye on this , and hope to enjoy it when some of the more interesting content is released ;)

My intention is to use static images until V1.0, and after the story is complete I'll make some more versions with extra content, like animations for the most parts, is just because this is my first adult game but I've made games and software before and I know the problems of overscoping, so I prefer to finish first and add extras later so I can work faster :)

 

And sound is a bit of a challenge to me, I'll add it without doubt, I'm just looking for the right assets to use, don't wanna make people mute the game because of obnoxious music, but I'll try to add at least some audio to the next version.

Have you tried using another browser of refreshing the page? Because you are the first one to report this problem to me, if it doesn't work let me know and I'll upload on another website for you to download.

I had no issues downloading it with Chrome.

 

 

I also had no problem downloading the game and had no looping. Also using chrome.

 

I downloaded with Firefox just to be sure, but it could have been a temporary problem, but I guess it's solved :D

Story wise I finished writing the Mr.Jones morning event, now I have to render the scene, and right now I'm working on the Margareth event.
