ceruleanboar Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 So I created dirt textures for face tintmasks that are essentially just "blanks". The goal was to make dirt textures on npc faces go away. I uploaded the textures to the correct data folder, yet NPCs still have dirt on their faces. In the "showracemenu" though, it seems to work for my character since I can't see dirt when I select the dirt options. Am I doing something wrong? Is this part of that facegen bug? I've attached the tintmasks.
Veta Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 i am not sure but it could be a race thing , maybe each race has it's own.
linkdude Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 NPC's have a set tintmask corresponding to their ID. In order to remove the dirt you would need to edit the NPC in the CreationKit and create a new tintmask which will then be created in ...Data\textures\actors\character\FaceGenData\FaceTint\Skyrim.esm.
FastestDogInTheDistrict Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 NPC's have a set tintmask corresponding to their ID. In order to remove the dirt you would need to edit the NPC in the CreationKit and create a new tintmask which will then be created in ...Data\textures\actors\character\FaceGenData\FaceTint\Skyrim.esm. Be sure to *temporarily* REMOVE your tintmasks folder from your \skyrim\Data\Textures\actors\character\character assets folder before you open the CK (make a backup copy of the folder on your desktop to be safe). Put it BACK when you're finished. The CK does not handle modded tintmasks well. Temporarily removing the file while you're using the CK will allow you to avoid the discoloured/speckled forehead bug/s, bugs with eyeliner, and bugs with upper & lowereyesocket tints.
ceruleanboar Posted August 2, 2012 Author Posted August 2, 2012 Thanks for the replies! I've actually gone about it another way... or the normal way I'd say. Since I'm creating a mod to change tintmasks and hair on NPCs, I've just cleared off the dirt via the CK manually with an ESP and then of course updated facegen stuff. I've so far updated every single breton/imperial/nord female in the game! Hours of work!
stupidgaijin Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 A way to remove the dirt tintmask is exactly what I'm looking for. I'm using ECE, Pretty Face and official CBBE face pack and the dirt tintmask just ruins NPC faces. Clean faces are gorgeous, but when I come across a dirty faced NPC, I jump back in horror. [insert: DO NOT WANT bear]. How's the progress on this?
