Possible to dual boot Windows 10 and 7 while running steam games off external SSD?

I made a thread about dual booting a little while ago but it asked some very different questions and I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share their two cents on this issue.

 

I'm currently in the process of trying to install Windows 7 on my external USB3.1C SSD, but I'm running into some issues that may or not be fully solvable/worth the time and potential money. Anyways, I was wondering if I could simply move my steam library to the external SSD freeing up space on my internal SSD, create a new partition on my internal, install Windows 7 on it, and then run games fine without any issues off of my external. Some of these games I would want to run on Windows 7 (Skyrim), while some I would want to run on Windows 10, although none of them would actually be located on my internal SSD.

 

Is this possible? If so, how would I go about doing this? I'm a total newbie to dual booting and all of this, so any help would be hugely appreciated.

 

 

Also, apologies for the weird blue highlight, I copied this from a recently created Steam thread and I'm not sure how to get rid of it.

 

Anyways, any help would be immensely appreciated. Thank you.

While I've not tried myself, I would assume you can use the library feature in steam to do what you want.

As for the colours, select the text and click the eraser at the top to remove formatting.

Or just right-click and choose the paste as plain text option when pasting the text.

I looked into that a while back because I was tired of having my full 16gb of RAM neglected and unused. If I recall you'll need a non used and non upgraded XP key. I probably have one in a box somewhere, but never got farther than that.
