The Problem:

So my Breton Vampire recently married Marcurio, right after turning Dexion to my thrall I spoke to Vingalmo. Now first he told me that I had a WIFE, which was the first indication that something was wrong. And then when I got the quest, it sent me to Aranea Ienith. I know who that is, it's the Dunmer Priestess up at the Shrine of Azura. But I never married her, never even talked to her. The shrine is not even found and the quest for Azura's star has not been given to me by any of the NPC's who give it.

 

I have tried once with Marcurio in my party and once with him at home. I have searched, and found two instances where this has happened, one on the UESP and one on the Nexus Forums but neither had a solution.

 

This did not happen with Cosnach, who was turned with no problems on my former save.

 

Seeing as you on LoversLab appear to be the most knowledgeable on the subject of mods and the game in general. I need your help again. Any ideas to what might cause this or how to fix it?

If anything in faction or relationship has been modified, or if the npc has conflicting changes other than just tint changes in more than one mod, you will have this kind of problem. Also, there is no fix without going back to a save previous to the quest and cleaning the save with a save game tool before trying again.

 

I'm fairly certain that usleep changes aranea and if any npc change mods overwrite usleep it can remove their fixed ai packages and can sometimes break that npc's quests that were fixed by usleep.

Well, the BTRH Aranea mod is part of the BTRH Waifu mod. Which changes the face, body, outfit and AI for a variety of characters but I cannot remember in what way their AI is changed. I don't know how to handle xedit as the most modding I've ever done is change sound files and converting heavy armor to light armor. I will try a few new ideas I got and to clean the save.

 

EDIT: Okay, I took a look and I found that BTRH makes her a potential spouse. Which I guess is the problem. I disabled the BTRH_Aranea and cleaned it, but that didn't help, speaking to Vingalmo to get the quest once more, again sent me to Aranea. The "Rank" underneath faction is set to 0.

 

Otherwise I found something called Short Name where Skyrim.esm, Usleep and Undying Companions all has it set to "Aranea" whiel BTRH calls her "Aranea Ienith" Otherwise it's all textures and tints and such. I screenshotted what I see as interesting.

Last time you played this quest you had the same mods? If that is so then console search the quest stages and just force complete that one, it's not important and it probably screwed up so far back that you would never find where. Usually you can just use setstage quest# stage, if you're not familiar with how I will try and find you the page with the steps.

No, I know the conssole commands and the steps well enough, I have changed a few mods but nothing that would affect those characters. It's limited to removing armors and textures that I no longer use. AI and such would remain unaltered from last time.

 

I know the quest isn't important, but I kinda want it fixed anyway. Mainly because I kinda want to turn him into a Vampire.

 

What I don't get is why it thinks I'm married to someone else and why specifically Aranea.
