Custom Followers/ follower editor mods?

 I was wanting to have an Argonian companion for my travels, namely one with black scales similar to my character. I know that there's an npc you can recruit as a follower/ etc in-game... but the skin/scale color is a pale green and not really what I'd prefer.

 

Anyone know of a means to edit their appearance, or otherwise custom-make a follower?

 

(Tried Alternate Actors... Not too pleased with the bad mechanics.)

I'd say go into the Creation Kit (download from Steam, if you haven't got it already), then choose that Argonian that's a pale green, and then change the skin complexion to black. That's the easiest way, I'd say, aside from duplicating said potential follower, then adjusting them to suit your needs, changing the names and forms as needed. I mean, that's how I'd do it. That's how many more people in Skyrim look so much better for me (although unfortunately, most of them use the Type 4 eye, which is the only nice one there, so they look quite similar...)

 

As for Alternate Actors, I gave up on that. Nice, but doesn't save any changes you've made after changing characters again.
