DSXX Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Basically what I'm hoping for is to move the tall shoulder pad mesh you get from the gale armour, to the gale gauntlets, so when you put the gauntlets on the shoulder pad is there too. I don't know whether it'll move properly in-game but I'm asking anyways. Could someone possibly do this for me? I'm assuming it's a quick job for someone who knows what they're doing. I've given it a go, with the knowledge I had of NifSkope which isn't much, but I couldn't get it to function properly. I was informed of something concerning monkrobes and another time resulted in the existing trishapes being absorbed, all of which prevented me from going any further. Cheers. Even simple guidance as to how I would do it myself would be welcomed. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/20305
Vioxsis Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 try this http://www.mediafire.com/?bd2w657uvz6zgnc not tested
DSXX Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 Ah thanks for taking an interest. Well the shoulder guard isn't appearing on the armour which matches your edits, but for some reason the guard isn't appearing when the gauntlet is equipped though.
Vioxsis Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 forgot to change BSDismemberSkin Modifier http://www.mediafire.com/?y6r4a839sktrmkf should work now
DSXX Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 Thanks, works fine now. Only issue now is that the fingers are all plain black. You could tell me what do so I save you the hassle and try doing it myself. Too bad the fingers can't be like those on the Nightingale, and feminine lol. You wouldn't happen to know of any guides involving mesh transfers for Skyrim would you?

Vioxsis Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 3rd time lucky http://www.mediafire.com/?8e27rrdpomlmoy3 I think this time it was 'cus i set "has vertex colour" to no when i was meant to leave that one yes. bet you wish someone less absent minded was helping you
DSXX Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 Yeah... I tried that when learning how to edit skeletons and weapon positions lol. Totally confused me. Plus some stuff just was either sort of out of date or not relevant. Tried youtube too :/ All I'm really in search of is a nifskope mesh guide which probably covers transferring one mesh to another. Edit: No lol, no qualms with that (you aren't getting paid ), I'm just glad someone is actually helping. Thanks.
Shaydow Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I am not absent minded :/ I was TRYING to help AND be humorous at the same time. What I said is the truth, it is not my fault if the original poster had problems with it. I mean hell @Vioxsis, it is how YOU did what he asked, right? Peace, Shay

I know that sounds very vague but it is true. Right click on ANY hightled mesh in Nifskope and look at your options. YES, there are MANY other options in nifskope, like aplha channels, where the part goes on the body, etc, but just learning the base functions of nifskope should get you started. I hope this helps. Peace, Shay
DSXX Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 Yeah I know, but each time I tried shifting one node to another I got an error or something peculiar happened, this time it was concerning 'MonkRobes'. It put me off entirely and I wasn't sure what to do and spent a while looking around. That and if someone helps me out like above, I usually end up examining the file and seeing what they did and why. Skeletons is/was easy, even though it was awkward at first, but this isn't simple to get around. I nailed down one thread which I intend to look at when I've got the interest again. There's a multitude of stuff out there but either it's just not useful, relevant or simply out of date. A simple guide would've just been useful, really, for anyone. I'm certain things would get sorted out sooner that way. Get the basics down then learn from that point on. Heck, I've had people PM me for assistance/guides as to how to customize weapon positions and a little explanation/guide seriously went a long way. They understood, they were grateful and it did save them a lot of time, time I spent wasting when I was once in their position without a reasonable guide. I usually learn just by doing, trial and error, I always have in the past, but this time around with meshes it appeared more complex than that, especially if I get rocked by something I have no clue about. But anyways... Feels like I've ranted but it's not one, trust me, lol. Either way I'm grateful for the assistance I've received, file is working fine, even got the brown finger issue fixed! :0 Edit: Aha. Moment of failure and realization. Think I may have found something. I randomly ended up just now seeing if there was export mesh option. Selected something as a test, hit export. Now I'm assuming from that point I can go to whatever I wanted, go to import, bring in that obj and hopefully assign (c&p I'm guessing from the previous nif) nodes and junk to it.

Now I'm assuming from that point I can go to whatever I wanted, go to import, bring in that obj and hopefully assign (c&p I'm guessing from the previous nif) nodes and junk to it. I will give you some easy pointers if you like. 1) the very TOP file that has a NAME ( if it has no name move down ) it should be listed as 0 NiNode. Right click on this. Select transoform, then edit. RENAME the file to Scene Root ( this is the base of nifskope and what many modders begin with. ) You can have more then one .nif open at the SAME TIME. In fact you will NEED TO. Now that both of your opened .nif have the same extension ( Scene Root ), right click on ANY part of any mesh you like in one of your open .nif Hover over BLOCK option : Click the copy branch option. Now right click the .nif you want that mesh to appear in. This is the scene root of that .nif. so if you want new hands with your gloves. right click the hands you DO NOT WANT in the nif you like, go to block, DELETE BRANCH, get rid of the hands, go to nif with hands you like, right click the hands, go to block, COPY BRANCH, then right click the OTHER nifs SCENE ROOT and right click, go to branch, and PASTE BRANCH. It is like windows paint / windows, etc, cntrl c cntrl V, you just puttin one thing on another. IF YOUR NIF YELLS AT YOU IT CAN NOT FIND A BONE STRUCTURE FOR YOUR NEW MESH, do this : Make sure both nif have a heading of Scene Root ( or WHATEVER you want, though blank nifs start as scene root so it is good to get in the habit of them having this name ). Now look at what bone it says it can not find. Find that bone on y9our original nif ( where you got the mesh from ), copy the bone and past it to your SCENE ROOT. This will create a new bone but it will have the WRONG NAME. Now right click on the bone you copied, go to transform, then Edit. When the window pops up highlight the name then hit CNTRL C, now close it. Go to your new nif and find the bone you just made with the weird name. Right click it and once again go to transform, then edit. Hit CNTRL V in the name and your bone has the same name! NOW try moving the mesh from one nif to the other. If it yells at you it is missing ANOTHER bone, then you must do this over and over, untill it has the right bones! After your done and you place your mesh, if the clipping is bad, you have to options : you can move the bone in Nifskope and hope it helps even out the mesh, or you can go to 3dmax / blender and redo the mesh outline to match the bones, new bones you made yourself. I know I am not the best at describing things, but I hope this helps you understand the BASICS of nifskope, it really is not that hard once you see what it is you have to do. Peace, Shay

Peace, Shay I made a LOT of corrections to this over the last hour or so, and added more detail. If you read this an hour ago, read it again. I really have no problems helping anyone, I would love if EVERYONE knew how to nifskope / creation kit. The mods ands ideas we would see would be WONDERFUL Peace, Shay
DSXX Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 Cheers for all of that! I'm certain it'll come in use. You'll probably end up seeing this topic bumped with a question if I end up using nifskope to try doing such a thing myself again. Well what I've noticed about Skyrim is the amount of new modders it's produced. They might not be 'hardcore' modders per say but many more people seem to have a general idea of what to do and what to look for compared to the past 'generation'.

If my examples are badly worded, please let me know. I did my best to try and help. And yes, there are MANY aspects of nifskope I did NOT cover, again, such as alpha channels, how to set a body location, etc, and I would be more then happy to help you or ANYONE with these things! What I just gave you should help you use nifskope to BEGIN making ANYTHING YOU WANT. The fine tune is up to you Peace, Shay
