DrN Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Hi guys.I decided to reinstall Oblivion since I had many issues with textures/CTDs with Lovers mods.I mounted an ISO copy of the game I had in my external HD( I have no idea where my original disks are-its been 5 years since I bought it),installed it,but when I try to load it I get an error message.I have read somewhere that it may happen when you repeatedly uninstall/reinstall the game(which I am afraid I have done so over the years, trying new mods),and its solved if you run the setup.exe, uninstall and reinstall the game, plus if you delete the .ini file from mygames/oblivion file.Well,I have tried more than 10 times to reinstall it,in both my HDDs,and I keep getting the error message every time I try to load the game....since I cant get the original disks any time soon(prolly in my parents basement),any thoughts/solutions would be most welcome. Thanks in advance
Ark of Truth Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Ok. There's what we are gonna do 1. Don't double post...that's a no no, delete the other thread your have in the other section. We will use this one. 2. Please sort out the OP a bit, It's hard to read where the punctuation is and where lines begin. 3. What is the error message? We need to know exactly what one it is before we can help you.
DrN Posted July 2, 2012 Author Posted July 2, 2012 apologies for the double post, I was not sure where it soupld be posted :)This is the error message I get Oblivion: Oblivion.exe-Application Error. The directive to "0x0053162c" referenced memory did in "0x0000000c". The memory can not be "read". Please click on the button "ok" to exit the program. Click on "Cancel" button for troubleshooting the program
Ark of Truth Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Right do the following. - Unstill the game if it still on there. - Make sure you delete all your saves and anything else to do with Oblivion. - Restart your computer, I have not read anything to do with restart after install or uninstall. If your don't restart your computers registry will contain old paths and registry keys etc. - Make sure everything to do with Oblivion has been removed, all ini, saves, folders etc. - Reinstall the game. - Check to see if game loads correctly without installing any mods. If that doesn't work come back here and post your PC Specs. Could be a hardware issue.
DrN Posted July 2, 2012 Author Posted July 2, 2012 I ll try right away, I ll remove OBMM and Wrye as well.Edit: right, I have restarted my pc and it looks good, installign mods 1 by1 and checking, no errors so far.I think you saved me from this frustrating issue Ark
