Lots of Mods dependent on each other, CTD

Sometimes my skyrim will CTD on new game, this is starting after I painstakenly fixed the issues on CTD on LOAD. Though I do not know if they worked.

I have a lot of mods, 170 or so, and a lot of them are dependent on each other like porn mods seem to like to do. Id perfer not to delete mods, but if necessary I will delete some less desired mods and pick it apart surgically to lower my load.

Sometimes new game will work, often it will not.

Any advice?

EDIT: I HAVE cleaned, bashed path, and used loot. Pre-start the game looks like it is going to work swell

reason is you cant have a lot of mods at startup aka newgame otherwise it will either ctd or messup the game, this is a known issue.

to get around this you need to have the "basic" and I mean BASIC mods running at startup, then after you leave the cave at the start of the game start adding a few at a time and test / save then repeat till all the mods are active..

THEN make a default savefile at that location so you just need to load that up and then go into showracemenu to make your chars.

as if that's supposed to fix your mess

tesedit, check for error your load order, get rid of the mods that are a huge mess, fix the others (or get rid of them)

open your papyrus log, and the mods that are a lot of errors, get rid of them too

and now it should work better

doing mean bye bye your save (doesn't matter what you put in your load order if the save overwrite it with the old mess)

Well at first just to let you know, if you use Loot it can help sort a load order, but for 100% it also kills a sorted looad order because it places plugins sometimes on Positions which wont let your skyrim work.

Here is a Part of the Original Loot Intro/Readme:

"While LOOT is able to calculate correct load order positions for the vast majority of plugins using only their content, it cannot do so for all plugins"

But i had sometimes CTD when i load a savegame, all which helped is, you start skyrim, klick new game. and then when the game is loaded, open the menu (ESC) and then load your savegame.

And if your Skyrim don't crash when you start skyrim, i mean when you can see the main menu, then it is NOT a wrong Plugin load order! :-)

If your skyrim crashes sometimes while you play, then you should expand the memory for SKSE, because if you use much mods which have much scripts etc, its the best to expand the Memory in SKSE.ini (take a look at google and search for MemoryBlocksLog). The maximum you can set here is a value of 1024, BUT you need then to set the ExpandMemoryx64 in the ENB ini to "false".

This helped me very much, since i've done this my skyrim never again crashed while playing! =^..^=

So remember,

1. if skyrim crash before you see the main menu = wrong plugin load order. (maybe because you use loot, i highly recommend dont use loot)

But if your skyrim shows the Main menu and you can load or start new game etc. then its for 100% not a wrong plugin list.

2. if you see the main menu and it only crashes when you load a savegame, then start a new game, and then after done this, open the menu (ESC) and load your current savegame!

3. if your skyrim crashes while playing sometimes (CTD without warning) then you should do this memoryblockslog thing, google for it and also for the video, i had skyrim crashes while playing for more as 2 years!!! since i've done this (it was around 5-10 January) i never again had CTD while playing skyrim.)

greetings,

Khajii.

Ah and for your Problem:

Sometimes new game will work, often it will not.

Any advice?

Aww i swear i had this too, but i cant remember what it was exactly.

If you have a Mod called "Dragon Slayer Estate" or so, unsintall it, that was the mod which maked my Skyrim wont let me start a New Game.

I have never had a problem with NMM but then I watch what I install. LOOT much like BOSS are never going to be 100% fail safe as they can still fail which is why you should run TES5EDIT after running LOOT to makes sure load order is good and manually move .esp's to where they need to be.

CTD loading a save can be caused by having too many scripts active because when you load a save file up every script that is active will try to load up at the same time causing the game to crash.

If I'm redoing my load order from scratch I install the mods that the mod authors say should be compatible with everything first and then save the ones that require patches for last since those are usually the ones that cause the most issues.  Yes Perma, I'm talking about you...

update: it is slowly working, though as i get closer to full install, im having semi-regular crashes on load/start game. I will be in game for a few seconds as mods start up, then CTD

I also noticed that it is no longer possible to use bashed patches this way, as the loadstates dont recognize the bashes.

EDIT: To all other replies, I am aware of your advice and have done these steps prior to starting this thread

it SEEMS like a memory thing the game getting overloaded, but i do have my memory set high in skse.ini

Also when im making a bashed patch i get an error in jaxons utilities, tho in mot sure why

EDIT: I started over and am just using half my mods

now when I load my toon is standing stiff, not moving, and when I move, he slides around x.x
