UZero Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 So I've been digging into the details involving EffectShaders and the textures associated with them, lighting effects, and anything else like it, trying to figure out how to remove the scanlines and edit the general appearance of the crafting part highlight effect. Effectively I'm attempting to modify the highlight effect you get when you edit a weapon or armor piece to look like the edges-only outlining associated with workshop base building. It started while taking a look at how Customizable Targeting Hud modified the "detect life" effect that's applied to any Targeting Hud modification. Projected textures? Sounds about right. I messed around with those changes for a few moments and ended up with various variations as well as a blank (read: scanline-less and red) hostile target effect. Alright, looks good! (Well, not really, but it's proof of process.) Fast forward to several hours later and me pulling my hair out. I can not, for the life of me, figure out how the highlight effect (and for that matter, VATS effect) is applied. I can't find a matching effect shader, or a light projector, or anything like it. As for textures, I've blanked out THREE scanlines texture variations that I pulled from the textures BA2s, and while the "detect life" effect no longer has scan lines, everything ELSE does. For a change of pace at one point I tried to find the Workshop edge highlighting effect and/or texture, no luck there either. I've tried looking for potential INI changes with no luck either (Workshop editing can have its outlines set to be full highlight like modding/VATS, but that option doesn't exist for anything else?). Anybody have any ideas, a direction they could point me in? I've been sitting on the tentative assumption that these effects may be hardcoded (for some damn reason), but that doesn't explain why I can't find the appropriate textures. Searching around has turned up that this question has been asked before, or at least people have been looking for a mod that does it, but apparently nobody's been able to piece it together yet.
