britefire Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 .After fiddling in creation kit for the last three hours, and a few failed tests, I can not figure out how to change the item-slots used by the Kaw Cat Disguise Set at skyrimnexus. I set the slots to 55 for the non armored ears, and the tail item to 40. However, in game, while I can equip them fine with a circlet and a necklace (the slots they originally used), they do not show up on my character. I read one source that mentioned modifying the .nif files with nifskope, but I cannot figure out how to extract/export (and then import) the .nif files from the esp with the creation kit. If someone would change those items, or even just say what I did wrong, it would be very helpful! Well, thanks to help from loverslab987, I finished my edits, and have attached the results to this post! Pic: The Cat tail amulet now uses slot 40 so it can be worn with a necklace, and the cat ears band now uses slot 55so a circlet can be worn with it. I'm not sure how or if they interact with other helmets though, there may be clipping issues. If anyone has a better suggestion for slots, I can change them to another slot.
loverslab987 Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Yeah, that's a bit tricky, because you're missing one piece of information. You have to change the body part number directly in the *.nif files to get the armor to display correctly. Otherwise it's invisible ingame, when equipping. You need the program nifskope to do that. It's not tied to the Creation Kit, but rather a standalone program. I've posted a picture here: http://www.loverslab.com/showthread.php?tid=8883&pid=178303#pid178303 The number in the picture has to match the biped slot number you're assigning in the Creation Kit. You should set the identical number(s) for the armor addon AND for the actual armor item in the CK. As you probably figured out by now, the actual armor item, where you determine weight, value, armor rating, light / heavy type etc. is based on the armor addon, wich is the entry with the AA at the end.
britefire Posted June 27, 2012 Author Posted June 27, 2012 Thanks for the help, I feel very stupid now that I realized the nif files were just in the mesh folder. One more question though, which entry in nifskope is equivalent to the creation-kit's item slot 55?
shedidwhat Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 not sure if this will help but... skyrim bodypart numbers list http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Skyrim_bodyparts_number also another set of ears that may be easier to use ingame Khajiit Cat Ears http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/14205
loverslab987 Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 One more question though' date=' which entry in nifskope is equivalent to the creation-kit's item slot 55? [/quote'] The numbers are (or rather have to be) identical. Use 55 in the nif-file and also for the armor addon (CK) and the actual armor item (CK). Look at shedidwhat's link(s) for further information.
britefire Posted June 27, 2012 Author Posted June 27, 2012 I finally finished it. Though it was as easy as setting the value to the item slot number in nifskope. (Thanks for the help loverslab987!) I finally finished it. While it works, I'm not sure what other mods use slot 55, if anyone knows a better slot to use I'll change it. Here's a screenshot of the end result (on a character who is in prison for a minor mis-click ) I attached the file to the first post, feel free to use or modify if you want to. Should work fine with Nexus Mod Manager.
